Report: Weis to join Chiefs as an assistant

ESPN, citing team and league sources, reported Wednesday that former Notre Dame coach Charlie Weis has agreed to become the offensive coordinator of the Kansas City Chiefs.


Head coach Todd Haley and Weis are friends from their days as assistants with the New York Jets.

BROWNS: Eric Mangini drove away from Cleveland's team headquarters. It's not known if he's coming back.

The embattled coach left the Browns' training facility at 5:35 p.m. on Wednesday after presumably having his big meeting with new team president Mike Holmgren . As he drove away in his car, Mangini did not stop to speak with reporters outside.

Team spokesman Bill Bonsiewicz would not confirm if Mangini, who is fighting for his job, got to make his case to Holmgren.

- The agent for return specialist Josh Cribbs said the Pro Bowler will clean out his locker at the team's facility after an insulting contract offer from the club.
