Browns deal Edwards to Jets

Cleveland coach Eric Mangini dumped Braylon Edwards off on his former team Wednesday, trading to the New York Jets a wide receiver whose off-field troubles have matched his immense talent.

The Browns got former Clemson receiver Chansi Stuckey , linebacker Jason Trusnik and two undisclosed draft choices.

- Jets QB Mark Sanchez said that he was fined $5,000 by the NFL for his low block on New Orleans linebacker Jonathan Vilma last weekend.

During Darren Sharper 's 99-yard interception return for a touchdown in the second quarter, Sanchez dived at the legs of Vilma, who was blocking on the play. Sanchez was assessed a 15-yard personal foul penalty.

LIONS: Quarterback Matthew Stafford , a former Georgia star, was held out of practice because of his injured right knee.

Even if Stafford can't practice today, coach Jim Schwartz said that won't necessarily rule him out of Sunday's game against Pittsburgh.

49ERS: Wide receiver Michael Crabtree agreed to a six-year contract after several months of difficult negotiations.

While specifics of the contract weren't disclosed, Crabtree will receive nearly $17 million in guaranteed money, according to a person familiar with the deal.

GIANTS: While his painful heel injury is improving, Eli Manning is not guaranteeing he will quarterback New York this weekend against the Oakland Raiders.

Manning was held out of practice so he can get treatment on his plantar fascia.

COWBOYS: Wide receiver Roy Williams missed practice because of a rib injury. He hopes to play Sunday at Kansas City.

BEARS: Devin Hester does not expect to miss any games after straining a muscle in his neck in last weekend's win over Detroit.

With a bye coming up, Hester says he'll be ready to play at Atlanta on Oct. 18.

RAVENS: Tony Fein , an Iraq war veteran and linebacker who played during the preseason, died of unexplained causes after collapsing at a friend's house in what his agent said appears to be "an accidental situation."
