MIAMI - About the only thing new quarterback Trent Green led the Miami Dolphins offense to Saturday night was a smattering of boos.
Green struggled in his Dolphins debut, underthrowing receivers and managing just 60 yards on 6 for 15 passing with one interception in Miami's 18-17 exhibition win over the Jacksonville Jaguars.
PANTHERS 24, GIANTS 21
In East Rutherford, N.J., Jake Delhomme and Steve Smith combined for an opening-drive touchdown pass and receiver Taye Biddle caught touchdown passes of 23 and 85 yards for Carolina.
For the Giants, the preseason opener was a preview of what life might be like without Michael Strahan, the seven-time Pro Bowl defensive end who is holding out of training camp.
BROWNS 16, CHIEFS 12
In Cleveland, rookie Brady Quinn stood with a clipboard and studied the Browns' playbook during his first NFL preseason game.
Phil Dawson kicked three field goals for the Browns, who trailed 12-9 after Kansas City's Justin Medlock kicked a 42-yard field goal with 1:48 left. But Cleveland's Chris Barclay returned the ensuing kickoff 88 yards for a score.
PACKERS 13, STEELERS 9
In Pittsburgh, good thing for Ben Roethlisberger and Mike Tomlin this one didn't count. Brett Favre, too.
Neither Roethlisberger nor Favre did much as the Packers' and Steelers' offensive starters were shut out in little less than a quarter's playing time, with Green Bay backup Aaron Rodgers throwing a touchdown pass and leading two other scoring drives.
BEARS 20, TEXANS 19
In Houston, Matt Schaub, who replaced David Carr after backing up Michael Vick for three years in Atlanta, had an inauspicious debut, going 3 for 5 for 25 yards in the Texans' loss.
The Bears scored 13 fourth quarter points, including a 47-yard go-ahead field goal by Robbie Gould with 2:23 remaining.
REDSKINS 14, TITANS 6
Tennessee quarterback Vince Young sat out the exhibition loss and coach Jeff Fisher said the punishment was for violating an unspecified team rule.
