The historic late 1800s Newberry (S.C.) Opera House is observing its 20th anniversary since being massively renovated and reopened with a full day of free festivities on Tuesday.
There will be special tours at 10 a.m., noon, and 2, 4 and 6 p.m. complete with free goodie bags with items reflecting various aspects of the history of the Opera House, the actual building itself, and the performers who have played there.
The first 50 taking the tour will receive a print of the opera house. There will be four interactive stations in the lobby offering children’s games from 3 to 4:45 p.m.
At 5 p.m. there will be a program in the theater that will include a new video on the building’s history, the renovation process and an overview of the past 20 years.
