Westminster Schools of Augusta earned the FBI Safe Online Surfing Internet Challenge National Award for October 2013 in the small-group category.

The middle school students will receive a trophy and a visit from the FBI. The students produced the top cumulative results in the FBI-SOS Internet Challenge post-quiz. The FBI-SOS is an internet safety program developed and administered by the FBI.

Navy Seaman James E. Williams has completed Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. He is the son of James E. Williams and Shevon D. Badie, of Augusta, and a 2003 graduate of Glenn Hills High School.

Air Force Airman Stanley T. Walker II graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas. He is the son of Patricia and Stanley Walker Sr. and a 2012 graduate of Davidson Fine Arts Magnet School.

Air Force Airman 1st Class Brandon M. Whitley graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas. He is the on of Yolanda Whitley and the grandson of Juanita Sturgis, and a 2006 graduate of Glenn Hills High School.

Niyathi Prasad and Amy Rosenblum were named to the dean’s list at Emory College for the fall 2013 semester.

Local author Charmain Zimmerman-Brackett was awarded the 2014 Yerby Award at the Augusta Literary Festival. She is the author of The Key of Elyon.
