  • Follow Crime & courts

Six Richmond County Sheriff’s Office employees were honored with awards Sept. 3 at a command staff meeting. Employees are honored for actions in the community every two weeks. They receive certificates of appreciation, letters and gift cards.

• Duputies Kenneth McKenzie and Michael Jennings were dispatched Aug. 25 to a burglary on San Sebastian Court, where they discovered two suspects fleeing through a back door. The suspects’ apprehension is credited to the deputies’ quick actions.

• Deputy William Hultman was patrolling the Woodcock Drive area on July 30 when he stopped a vehicle for window-tint violation. Hultman found drugs and a stolen firearm in the vehicle. The passenger was also wanted for questioning in a homicide investigation.

• Investigator Terry Gore was recognized for his clearance and arrest rate within the property crimes division. Gore led the larceny division in case load and arrests during the first six months of the year and has a clearance rate of 34 percent.

• Deputies Shaun Nguyen and Adam Rohrbaugh responded to an alarm Aug. 26 at Harban’s Spirits on Boy Scout Road and discovered a man walking nearby with two liquor bottles. The man, who fled from deputies, was apprehended and linked to a burglary of the business.

• Karen Caprio and Cheryl Allen of Project Paws Alive were honored for the donations the sheriff’s office K-9 unit. The organization donated two ballistics vests, 10 cooking vests and 10 first aid trauma kits.

I would like to see more articles like this.

It speaks of success over crime in the ARC area.
It most importantly displays the actions of good officers to the public while also letting the crooks know they running the increasing risk of being caught.

Officers honored

It is really nice to see the LEOs honored for doing good police work. Too often we hear only the negative, so this is good.
