Army Cadet Steven C. Diver has graduated from the Army ROTC Leader’s Training Course at Fort Knox, Ky. He is the son of Kerry and Verna Diver, a 2004 graduate of Davidson Fine Arts School and a student at Georgia Regents University.

Navy Seaman Recruit Jeremy C. Haslem has completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. He is the son of Angela Taylor.

Navy Seaman Recruit Shantavia S. Griffin has completed basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. She is the daughter of Sabrina A. Griffin and a 2013 graduate of Burke County High School.

Fundraising

Area Publix stores have raised $13,204 through an in-store fundraiser for the the Children’s Hospital of Georgia. The funds were raised May 25 through June 14, and will be used to fund equipment and technology upgrades.

Wins award

Caroline Page, Caleb Lively and Brenton Durke attended Gordon College’s summer leadership program in July. Page and Lively received awards totaling $4,000 to implement community service projects in the Augusta area. They were recognized for having one of the top five ideas. Lively will reach out to hospitalized and bedridden residents, and Page will build relationships with the mentally handicapped.

President’s list

Katherine Hamilton, Eric Speese and Jessica Lewis were named to the president’s list at Georgia College for the summer 2013 semester.

To be in showcase

William Eli Osborne Jr. has been selected to participate in the Eighth Annual Offense-Defense All American Showcase, which will be held during the Citrus Bowl in Orlando, Fla. from Dec. 30 through Jan. 5. The 16-year-old Osborne, the son of Eli and Allison Osborne, is a defensive back for Burke County High School.
