Pilot Club International will continue its BrainMinder program in schools, libraries and kindergartens this year.
In the spring, the club presented the program to 250 children in public schools.
BrainMinders is the primary project for Pilot Club International. It focuses on traumatic brain injury and brain disorders. BrainMinders promotes brain awareness, prevention education and support for brain-related programs.

Volunteers and donations of food and raffle items are needed for Kutz for Kylee, a cut-a-thon that will be held simultaneously at Trendz Salon and Hair Concepts.
Stylists will offer free haircuts from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 15. The event will also include free nail polish changes, food, drinks, face painting and inflatables. Services are offered in exchange for a donation.
All donations and other money raised will be given to the family of Kylee O’Shields, a 2-year-old who was born with a rare congenital birth defect.

Event for bikers
Augusta Harley-Davidson will play host to a customer and staff appreciation ride and barbecue beginning at 8 a.m. Aug. 4.
The day will begin with registration for the bike and car show, where prizes will be awarded for Best in Show, Best Paint, and Top 3 bikes and cars. Winners will be announced at 2:30 p.m.
At 1 p.m., there will be a 1940s Pin Up Girl contest with a first-place prize of $250, a photo shoot and a calendar.
Live music will be performed by the Psycho Devils.

Middle schools will hold orientation for new students and sixth graders from 6-8 p.m. Open house will be held at 6 p.m. Aug. 9 for elementary schools, 6 p.m. Sept. 11 for middle schools and 7 p.m. Sept. 11 for high schools.

The Georgia tax-free holiday is Aug. 9-10.
Eligible items include school supplies with a sales price of $20 or less per item; computers with a sales price of $1,000 or less; and clothing and footwear with a sales price of $100 or less per item.
Another tax-free holiday Oct. 4-6 will give customers a tax break on energy- and water-efficient products up to $1,500.

A Safe Boating Course will be offered Aug. 3 in the classroom of Fire Station No.1, located at 1 Broad St.
The class, which is from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., will cover several topics related to boating and navigation on the water.
The course is presented by the Savannah River Sail and Power Squadron. The $29 fee includes all course materials.
