Kidney Action Day at Kroc Center

Activities and information centered on kidney health will be presented at the Kroc Center from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 29.

Kidney Action Day will include free kidney health screenings, healthy cooking demonstrations, food samples, interactive fitness demonstrations, entertainment, health screenings and children’s activities.

Benefit ride for Kaleb Bo Miller

Street and Trail of Augusta will hold a ride to benefit Kaleb Bo Miller on June 29.

Kickstands up at 10:30 a.m. The cost is a $20 donation, which includes three raffle tickets and lunch.

Kaleb, 14, has had kidney disease all of his life. Money raised from the ride will help his family with medical bills and the cost of taking him to dialysis treatments.

17th annual Star Spangled Fourth

The Riverwalk Series Inc. will present A Star Spangled Fourth at St. Paul’s Church, beginning at 7:30 p.m. July 4.

The 17th annual patriotic event will feature favorites performed by a chorus and orchestra, a ceremony honoring seven World War II veterans, an After Glow barbecue and fireworks.

Concert tickets are $20 for adults. Children 18 and younger are free. Barbecue tickets are $15 each, available only in advance.

GOP women’s club riverboat cruise

The CSRA Republican Women’s Club will play host to a Patriot Riverboat cruise for new and potential members today.

Guests will need to be on board at 5:45 p.m. sharp. The boat is located behind the Augusta Mariott at the Convention Center, 2 10th St.

The free event will include drinks and snacks.

Making Proud Choices workshop

Preventing teen pregnancy and reducing the risk of STDs are the focus of Making Proud Choices, a workshop that will be presented by the Augusta Mini Theatre through July.

The free workshop is open to students ages 15-19 (permission slips are required for those 17 and younger).

Morning and evening sessions are available.

Students who complete the workshop with 100 percent attendance will receive $25 and a certificate of completion.

Summer rowing camp scheduled

The Augusta Rowing Club will play host to a summer rowing camp July 8-12.

Camps will be held from 8 a.m. until noon except on Friday, when it will end at 1 p.m.

Rowers must be at least 12 years old when camp starts.

Cost is $150, with $50 applied to fall dues if the rower continues with the High School Rowing Program.
