Milestones

Army Pvt. Taylor N. Dixon has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. She is the daughter of Jennifer Dixon and is a 2012 graduate of Evans High School.

Eric Alexander Osteen has graduated from the U.S. Military Academy in West Point, N.Y. He is the son of Mr. and Dr. Mark Osteen and a 2009 graduate of the Academy of Richmond County.

Army National Guard Pvt. Zachary R. Jenne has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. He is a 2010 graduate of Cross Creek High School.

DAR Medal

Art competition

Lillian Joan Brisson, of Greenbrier High School, was announced the winner of the 2013 Congressional Art Competition for the 12th District.

Rhonda Gibson was named to the dean’s list at the University of Cincinnati for the spring 2013 semester.

Leslie Ann Rhoades was named to the dean’s list at LaGrange College for the spring 2013 semester.

Raven Green and Cedricia Thomas were named to the dean’s list at Columbus State University for the spring 2013 semester.

Jodi M. Cunningham was named to the dean’s list at Angelo State University for the spring 2013 semester.

Father of the Year

Jackson Drumgoole II, a former Augusta resident and graduate of Glenn Hills High School, has been named the 2013 “All-Star” Dad by the National Father’s Day Committee and GQ magazine.

Jackson published an e-book titled They Call Me Daddy: A Diary of a Dysfunctional Father, established a Web site to encourage fathers and founded several accountability groups aimed at improving men’s relationships with their families. He lives in Dupont, Wash., with his wife ShDonna Flournoy, and children Jackson, 17, Lyric, 8, King, 4 and Jansen, 4.

Legal awards

• The law firm of Nathan M. Jolles P.C. has earned the Small Firm Award from the State Bar of Georgia for collecting the most pounds of food in the second annual Georgia Legal Food Frenzy food drive.

• Defense attorney Tanya D. Jeffords has been named Accountability Court Hero in an awards ceremony in Atlanta for her work with the Augusta Judicial Drug Court.
