Advocacy training sessions will be held 2-3:30 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Feb. 13 in preparation for Alzheimer’s Awareness Day.
The sessions will be held at the Alzheimer’s Association, 106 SRP Dr., Suite A, in Evans.
Members of the association will travel to the state capitol in support of programs and services for those battling Alzheimer’s and related dementia.
Buses will leave from Evans and make a stop in Thomson on the way to Atlanta.
The bus ride, lunch and a T-shirt will be provided to each participant at no charge.

Pet photo sessions
Jennifer W. Photography will offer Smile For a Cure Pet Photo Sessions through March 15.
The portrait charity sessions will benefit canine cancer research through the National Canine Cancer Foundation.

The Augusta Genealogical Society is offering copies of Summerville Cemetery, Augusta, GA, 2012 Edition for sale.
The book is a hard-bound, 163-page story of the Summerville Cemetery, which contains graves from the 1820s to the present and represents all wars, early Georgia families and local, state and national notables.
The original publication was released in 1990, but the new edition includes an addendum that contains the 2012 survey of new headstones, corrections to the original publication and an All-Name Index that covers the book and the addendum.
Copies are $35 and are available at the Augusta Genealogical Society, 1109 Broad St., or at the Augusta-Richmond County Public Library.

The CSRA Writers will meet at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 18 at Georgia Military College, 115 Davis Road.
Published and unpublished writers who need a support group are invited to attend and bring eight copies of a manuscript to be critiqued.

The second annual CSRA Baby & More Expo will be held 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Feb. 16 at the Legends Club on Washington Road.
The event is free and will feature maternity, baby and young children items, services and information from more than 80 local businesses.
A door prize raffle will benefit the Augusta Warrior Project. Goody bags will be given to the first 150 attendees.

Registration is now open for a 10-week class in beginning foil fencing at the Augusta Fencers Club.
The class meets 7-8 p.m. Wednesdays beginning Feb. 20. Cost is $150 and includes all competitive equipment.
Though the class is designed for adults, students as young as 14 may apply.
