Joe Lamp’l, a nationally known gardening and nature expert, will speak at 10 a.m. today as part of the Nola Falcone Speaker Series and Sacred Heart Garden Festival.
He writes a syndicated column and is the host of Fresh from the Garden on DIY and GardenSMART on PBS.
Tickets are $35 and reservations are required for the event, which will be held at the Augusta Country Club, 655 Milledge Road. Proceeds benefit the Sacred Heart Cultural Center.

The Miss Augusta Scholarship Pageant will hold its Miss Augusta/Miss Savannah River and Outstanding Teen events at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Greenbrier High School auditorium.
Tickets are $15.
These pageants are preliminaries to the Miss Georgia and Miss Georgia Outstanding Teen competitions being held in June.

Paine College is asking people to upload a video of them singing an Ohio Players song as part of Sugarfoot’s Ohio Players Fan Video Contest. The contest ends at midnight Monday.
The winner will receive a pair of tickets to the college’s 12th Annual Scholarship Masked Ball, along with a limousine ride. The ball is scheduled for 7 p.m. Feb. 10 at the Augusta Marriott at the Convention Center. The video with the most views on Paine College’s YouTube channel will win.

Comfort Keepers of North Augusta and Golden Harvest Food Bank will hold the CSRA Hunger Banquet from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at The Master’s Table, 702 Fenwick St. The event is part of the Stop Senior Hunger Comfort Keepers Initiative. The banquet is free but donations are accepted.

The Watson-Brown Foundation Inc. is accepting scholarship applications for 2012-13 awards.
The foundation will award 200 scholarships to high school seniors and college undergraduate students. Scholarship awards are $3,000 or $5,000 per year for the student’s first four years of undergraduate studies.
