LaShon Cherry Sturgis

LaShon Cherry Sturgis, a 2002 graduate of Paine College and a Georgia Health Sciences University student, received the $5,000 Herbert W. Nickens scholarship at the 2011 Association of American Medical Colleges Annual Meeting on Monday in Denver.

Basic training

Kirk W. Davis Jr., a 2011 graduate of Cross Creek High School and the son of Kirk Davis Sr. of Augusta, completed Army National Guard basic infantry training at Fort Benning in Columbus, Ga.

Air Force training

Zachary A. Curry, a 2011 graduate of Westside High School and the son of Jacquelyn and Zachary Curry of Evans, completed Air Force basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.

Award winner

Winyah Home Health Care on Wheeler Road, an Amedisys company, has been named to the 2011 HomeCare Elite for the sixth time.
