Quilty pleasures

Log cabin quilts by artist Glenda King will be on display through August at the Reese Library, second-floor gallery, at Augusta State University, 2500 Walton Way.

Fashionable event

Evolution: A New Sense of Style Fashion Extravaganza will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Paul Simon Theater in Fort Discovery, 1 Seventh St.

Tickets are $15 in advance or $20 at the door. There will be a $100 cash prize freestyle poetry reading contest (no profanity; three-minute limit; must sign up the day before show).

There will be refreshments served and vendors are welcome.

A portion of proceeds will be donated to HIV and AIDS research.

Ties That Bind

The Ties That Bind will be held 7-10 p.m. Saturday at the Augusta Common.

There will be screenings of the films The Augusta Commons and Augusta Remembers , music by My Instant Lunch, Electric Voodoo and Jim Perkins, and exhibits from downtown businesses and nonprofit and charitable organizations.

Study exchange

Applications are being sought by the Rotary Club for group study exchange team members to go to New Zealand.

The team is tentatively scheduled to leave between April 1 and May 10. Interviews will be held in late September.

Team members must be between ages 25 and 40; not be a Rotarian, honorary Rotarian, ex-Rotarian or the lineal descendant of a Rotarian, ex-Rotarian or a spouse of a Rotarian; and not a spouse of another team member.
