A woman who struck a child riding a bicycle Monday was found to be at fault for driving while distracted, deputies say.
About 7 p.m., Richmond County sheriff’s deputies were called to the 3000 block of Camp Josey Road, where the 11-year-old had been hit while sitting on a bicycle near the edge of his driveway, according to a police statement.
The driver, Jennifer Henning, of Blythe, was traveling in the westbound lane on Camp Josey Road when she turned her attention to tend to her child sitting in the back seat. Her car then struck the rear tire of the bicycle, causing the boy to fall to the ground and suffer head injuries.
Lt. Allan Rollins said Henning has been charged with distracted driving.
