Rants & Raves

Comments from readers:

THE COLUMBIA COUNTY Board of Education believes that all students can learn better in a safe school environment. I agree 100 percent. That policy needs to also protect the teachers because many of them are being bullied by the administrators.

THIS IS A RANT TO The Augusta Chronicle. I noticed on television that Robert Mitchum and James Garner both died and there has been nothing in the paper about either one of them. And yet James Brown is plastered all over the front page. These people had talent. James Brown only jumped around and yelled. I am appalled at the coverage that The Chronicle gives. I realize James Brown came from Augusta but he was nothing compared to the professionals who sang and danced in Hollywood and around the country.

THIS IS A RAVE TO the District Attorney of the Year, Ms. Wright. Congratulations on receiving your award and the way you handled the diamond ring situation here in Augusta.

RANT TO THE MANIAC driving the white SUV for television station WRDW (Channel 12). She was on the phone driving with one hand in the wrong lane facing oncoming traffic at Berckmans Road, then zigzagged through the other lanes trying to get to the fire. We could have ended up being the news. She needs to be behind a desk and not behind a wheel.

RANT FOR OBAMA’S critics. According to Politifact, Obama has taken 92 vacation days, compared to 367 for George W. Bush at the same time in his presidency.

JOB CREATION IN the first half of 2014 is finally matching numbers seen 15 years ago under Clinton. If you don’t like the increase in job creation, just elect a Republican. I’m sure they can stop it.

REP. LUIS GUTIERREZ D-Ill., claims President Obama has promised amnesty for ”millions of our undocumented.” Meaning let all the illegal aliens in. Fifty years ago Gutierrez would have been kicked out of the House of Representatives for such treasonous ravings. He represents Mexico and Central America more than the citizens of Illinois.

LOOK AT ALL THE wasted millions the Republicans used for those ridiculous ads by both Kingston and Perdue. They could have better used the money to really help people but instead, helped the TV stations pollute our shows with their ads. And that’s why those millionaires are so out of touch neither of them qualify to truly help people.

Corgimom, you beat me to it. Mitchum died years ago. And about James Garner, I edited his obituary for print, it ran on July 21 on page 4B.

The whole Diamond Ring case

STINKS

I am surprised we haven't seen a local media or AJC Open record request article on How and WHY this was handled the way it was?

BTW:

Was it a RASPBERRY AWARD?

Here we go again picking carefully worded ways to use

Statistical data.

It’s worth noting that there was a difference in the two presidents’ patterns of work and vacations.

Obama doesn’t own a vacation home, unlike Bush, who owned his own ranch. (Like Ronald Reagan) Bush essentially used the ranch as as a Working White House.

While Obama has traveled to a variety of destinations, including his native Hawaii on NON-WORKING VACATIONS.

So Bush's REMOTE WORKING LOCATIONS, did not cost Taxpayers no where near the amounts OBAMA's Recreational vacations cost the Taxpayers.

So depending on how a person decides to interrupt the data is how they will see the end results.

BTW:

If my job included ending the world at the push of a button, in briefcase that followed me around 24/7 or was outside my bedroom door. I would vacation frequently also.

So whether you like Bush-2000, or Obama I guess we can agree
the job is 1000% stress, and blowing off steam or chilling out is a much needed thing.

Unpublished

bush41 i believe took less vacations than any of his predecessors.reagan took many 30 day vacations as did bush43.i've never known obama to take one that long.i also would shudder to think what would happen if either of the 30 day v-kings had to endure all the crises that obama has faced.but then with bush43 he had cheney do everything while he rode his kiddy bike.still can't understand on 9/11 how a vp can tell a president when he can come back to washington(thought the secret service superseded all authority at this point in a national emergency)also, how cheney gave the order to shoot down flight 93 if it flew back towards washington when the president was not incapacitated?as lennon said strange days indeed.

wow, james garner gets a spot

wow, james garner gets a spot buried on page 4. how generous of the ac. james brown has been dead how long? and still getting front page press time? unreal. james garner, as far as i remember, was an actor who didn't get in the papers because he had a lot of personal drama going on like that other james, so of course i guess he was boring and doesn't rate continued press coverage like someone who constantly made a spectacle of themselves. james brown is so blatantly over-rated, but this IS augusta and they will latch on to whatever pathetic fame they can get. it's just too bad the ac buys into the hype.

Columbia County Central Office (Board of Education)

The so called leaders forget where they come from once they get on Hereford Farm Rd. It makes me sick at how a bunch of rich spoiled CC Parents threaten and actually go to the "Central Office" to get their way. You should start supporting and working with the school principles and others that make decisions based on a reason vs who somebody is. The Board especially the one that has never met a camera or microphone he didn't love has no backbone when it comes to those with the money and influence. What a disgrace and failure to support those down in the trenches. Get with the program and support your real leaders.

Targeted air strikes

And so it begins....Obama sees clearly now ....Iraq is a puzzle he can't shake & neither could Bush.....amazing how sitting in the hot seat opens the ole eyes to the real world.

Singing sweet songs of let us get along doesn't work well with terror groups.

And noc noc, the taxpayers

And noc noc, the taxpayers spent big bucks on security for Bush's ranch, Reagan's ranch, George HW Bush's house in Maine, etc. And then there's the enormous cost to maintain Camp David.

It doesn't matter where a President goes, it's expensive.

But every President says the same thing- living in the White House is like living in a prison and is very isolating, I don't blame any of them for wanting time away from it.

Obama has children. Of course he takes them various places, why wouldn't he do that?

It's kinda like pointing out that Bush signed more executive orders than Obama at this point in the Presidency. It's not the AMOUNT, but the substance of the orders!! Are they illegal orders, over reaching the Presidential authority?

That's much more important than vacations!! Republicans would do themselves a favor to shut up about his golfing and vacations; as it does nothing but show their extreme bias!! Stay on the important issues that do matter to people!!

BTW

I watched Obama's announcement that we will be doing targetted airstrikes in Iraq and providing relief to those stranded. I enjoyed watching it and agreed with everything he said.

Unfortunately, he's not going to mention that HE is responsible for this debacle; and I wouldn't expect him too!! If he had signed a long term agreement with Iraq, we would still have bases in Iraq from which to launch these airstrikes. But, since he completely abandon Iraq, we will now have to launch them from aircraft carriers. This will require longer flights, which are more dangerous and will cost millions more!!

It would be cool if someone ran the old Maverick shows for a while. Rockford Files was pretty good. Theme song was great.

"james brown is so blatantly

"james brown is so blatantly over-rated"

I don't know about that. I think the buzz over him is at about the correct level. Since you mention "over-rated", though, here are a few over-rated, over-glorified people that I can think of, off the top of my head:

1. The Beatles
2. Elton John
3. Bill Clinton
4. John F. Kennedy
5. Marilyn Monroe
6. Beyonce'
7. Elvis Presley

Here we go again; with the secular left attacking people......

and removing their spine; "As a scorpion stingeth a man".

http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2014/08/07/read-the-note-the-restaurant-...

The restaurant offering this discount has now discontinued it because of FEAR of a lawsuit!! So, their spine has been removed and they refuse to stand up to these attacks!! When are people going to get fed up with these attacks and STAND UP???

Also, how is offering a discount to people that pray at a personally owned restaurant a violation?? This is not a corporation, as was the Hobby Lobby argument; and there is no national chain of these restaurants. This restaurant didn't REQUIRE you to pray to the Christian God, matter of fact, they didn't require you to pray outloud!! As long as you bowed and prayed, they offered the discount!! So, someone could have prayed to Allah, and still received the discount!! You didn't have to divulge who you were praying too!! Atheists therefore, could have prayed to themselves and received a discount!! Prayer, doesn't REQUIRE you to pray to ANY entity!!

This is nothing but another example of the extreme HATRED, the secular left has for anything even resembling an acknowledgment of God!! I must admit, this story has by blood boiling!!
