Rants & Raves

Comments from readers:

A RANTER SAYS the editor is a “paranoid loon” because the editor can see things clearer than that ranter. Alas.

A JOHN BARROW story mentions that a vet can get “$390 in benefits to join the YMCA.” When did it start costing so much to join the YMCA?

THE U.S. SENDS additional 300 troops into Baghdad. Just like we got into Vietnam – send a “few” advisers, then add more, soon war.

GENERAL MOTORS IS recalling more cars than it’s making. It seems that awhile back, Obama used a zillion of our tax dollars to buy GM stock.

OBAMA CALLS OUR immigration system “so broken.” He’s held office for five years. Has he only now spotted the obvious?

AUGUSTA’S DIRECTOR OF Animal Services should be prosecuted for animal cruelty. She is running a death camp.

IF THE COST to feed, treat, shelter and deport the illegal immigrants were deducted from the money sent to the countries from where they came from, the flood of illegals would stop immediately.

WHO CARES ABOUT Justin Bieber, George Clooney or any of the dumbed-down so-called stars of Hollywood?

A RAVE TO the sanitation department for the smaller household cans. The can is very light and easy to handle.

THE WORST THING about the horrific immigration crisis has to be the health danger. Border patrol agents have caught diseases. To think that American kids will be going to school and exposed to not just lies but also tropical diseases. I can understand how those mothers in California are feeling. We are not to blame for those South American countries. Let Mexico deal with it. Charity begins at home.

RAVE FOR SHANNON at the pharmacy in Kroger’s on Deans Bridge Road. She always goes above and beyond to help customers, and I thank her.

I CAN FIX the pet problem. License all animals. $20 for a spayed or neutered animal and $100 for one that is not fixed. Hit them in the pocketbooks, and you won’t see four or five pit bulls chained up in the yard. I’ve seen it work in other states.

A PRESIDENTIAL PHOTO op at the border? How about a picture of him doing the “cuff and stuff” on an illegal alien at the border. Publish in a full-page ad in every newspaper in Central America; that would make it clear they don’t need to bother coming North.

Fixing the pet problem?

I'm all for your solution, next to last ranter. Many would not comply and if they don't, hit them harder with a fine, then jail time if they continue to flaunt the ordinance.
I'm generally not for more laws and government control, but this is obviously in the public interest as well as the animals' interest.

I don't think most in this area gave a rat's patoot about JB; regardless of his fame in the music industry. We know him for what he was as a citizen.

countyman: you are absolutely correct: most here don't give a rat's patoot about james brown or the continuing circus that surrounds him even after death. in fact, most here are probably sick ad nauseum of hearing about the seemingly never-ending saga of james brown, his will, his estate, his heirs and the heir-wanna-bees that pop out of the woodwork to try to get a piece of the jb pie. he was merely an entertainer, nothing more, certainly not worthy of idolization, as it appears the media would desire.

rant #10: you are absolutely correct. there are no immunization standards south of the rio grande. maybe the really, really rich people get them, but then, the really, really rich people aren't coming over the border via back roads and dry gulches, either. i say again that the u.s. needs to grow a set, carry a big stick, and demand that the governments of the countries from which these people are coming take responsibility for their own. why isn't there a big outcry from the kumbiyah bunch about the way these people are being treated in their countries, instead of berating the american people for not wanting the additional burden of so many unknowns? they'll get their panties in a wad over someone uttering a word they don't like, demand lynchings and firings and public apologies and all other manner of mea culpas, but the things that should demand their outrage, they fold like a deck of wet cards and are suddenly, amazingly, silent.

Immigrant solution

If average citizens, can see the simplest solutions to the illegal immigration problem, this administration - to include the congress - knows all the U.S. has to do is to cut off funds to Mexico. Along with enforcing our immigration laws, no jobs for illegals, no housing for illegals, no welfare benefits for illegals.

The prez continues to blame congress (Republicans) when all he has to do is enforce the law - that's what he put his hand on the bible and held up his right hand and swore to do. Before he even sat his scrawny butt in the oval office, he lied under oath.

Last ranter

There was no photo op of the president at the border. He never went near it. The photos of him in Texas were abut 500 miles away.

This prez is like a recalcitrant child!

There are over 350 bills that

There are over 350 bills that were passed by the house and are now sitting on Hapless Harry Reid's desk. He refuses to discuss them, bring them up for a vote or try to negotiate them with the House.

Yet, you lefties will gaze adoringly, cheer and bow when this lying prez stands before you and says Republicans are blocking bills that will help the middle class. Knowing full well the executive orders he's issuing and the bills from the Senate are killing the middle class and making it impossible to access for the lower class who would like to achieve the middle class status.

I heard from Isakson yesterday(Senator)

Part of his letter...

In the past nine months, more than 50,000 children and teenagers, as well as mothers and infants, have crossed the U.S. border into Texas illegally. Most are from Central America. I believe that our first priority in addressing this humanitarian crisis has to be securing the border and deploying the National Guard to the Mexican border. Secondly, I believe that we must ensure that those who have entered this country illegally can be quickly and efficiently returned to their home countries. Congress should amend the William Wilberforce Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act of 2008, which had the unintended consequence of delaying the deportation of undocumented minors from countries that do not border the United States.

Recently, I signed onto a bipartisan letter with a number of my Senate colleagues insisting that President Obama send a clear message to illegal immigrants that they will not receive special treatment and will not be eligible for any kind of deferred action. I have also called on the president to immediately and personally disavow all efforts to pursue amnesty through executive order, so that parents will not be encouraged to subject their children to the dangers of an illegal border crossing.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We have to change the Senate....get out & VOTE! (my words)

Braves Okay

Braves had bad luck last night with the two wild pitches. Plus, Gattis hasn't started to hit like he used to since coming back from the injury. On another subject, I read Scott's column and he says the Clemson-USC rivalry is not big as Southern Ca.-UCLA, Ohio St-Mich, Fla-Fla State. I think it's every bit as big. It's all about rankings. If they went into the game ranked 1-2 it would suddenly be thought of as the biggest rivalry. Do you remember Big Thursday when they played during the week? That would work again now with the ESPN Thursday night game.

Clemson/cocks

Obviously, locally it is as big as the others. But, nationally, probably not. It is not nationally televised like UGA/UF or UGA/Auburn are every year regardless of records. If they are both ranked at the end of this year (as they will be), it might make national TV.

Rant #10...I think this is

Rant #10...I think this is the reason Obama declined Perry's invitation to tour the border and kept his distance from the newest illegals on his recent trip to Texas. He had a fear of contracting one of the many contagious diseases.

His welcome mat would have become tainted with photos of him wearing a face mask and rubber gloves while greeting them with a presidential handshake.

Heck, even the Akron Zips are on TV these days. The term national TV doesn't mean much with the all the games on various cable providers, etc. I can't remember the last time a Clemson-USC game wasn't on ESPN or something.

ESPN2

Last year, it was on ESPN2. That is not a "featured" game. At the same time ESPN and ABC are showing "national games". The rating for those games will dwarf the ESPN2 game. You also have the 3:30 CBS game with is Nationally broadcast. ABC will do the same.
