Rants & Raves

  • Follow Metro

I DO NOT LIVE in Georgia anymore, but I am glad that Hardie Davis won the election. Maybe he can straighten out “Disgusta” and make it Augusta again.

RAVE TO PRESIDENT Obama. You surprised us, sir, by taking a quick trip to see the troops in Afghanistan. You sacrificed your holiday weekend. It was nice of you to go over there spur of the moment and recognize our troops. You are a true politician.

THE ELECTION IS OVER. Politicians hire people to put their signs up everywhere. Why can’t these same people take them back down? It should be a rule that they take them down within a week after the election or pay a fine.

I’M SO GLAD THAT the president is bringing our people home from that long, long war. That is the best news I have heard in a long time. I am so happy. Thank you, President Obama, for ending all of these wars. That will go down in history. We are going to have a celebration.

RANT FOR OUR government concerning illegals. If the government would stop unwarranted welfare and unemployment benefits for life, then freeloaders would have to get jobs and there would be no job for illegals. The problem would be 50 percent solved. The other 50 percent could be solved by duplicating Mexican prisons and prisoner treatment for Mexican illegals.

I THINK IT IS AN absolute disgrace that they attacked Snowden. Look what is going on in Washington, D.C. They need to be fired – all of them.

KUDOS FOR RICK MCKEE and his wonderful cartoon, the tribute to Maya Angelou. It should get an award. That is his best-ever tribute.

I HOPE MAYOR DEKE Copenhaver will think twice before converting those historic mills into dormitories for students. Can you imagine what they would look like after six months with drunken parties and being trashed out on the inside? Please do not change the mills into dormitories.

PRESIDENT OBAMA IS either the most inept president or his planned ruination of this country is right on schedule.

WE LIVED UP NORTH for many years, and Amish people were very, very decent people. Who is providing the money for these Amish people on television to come down to Florida and live like trash?

"PRESIDENT Obama. You

"PRESIDENT Obama. You surprised us, sir, by taking a quick trip to see the troops in Afghanistan."

And then he released 5 senior Taliban/Al-Qaeda members to come back to Afghanistan and kill our troops.

All in order to trade for a scumbag deserter.

Yeh....rave for Obama......rave for impeaching him.

@RR#4: I bet you would've loved Mao Tse Tung.
@RR#5: What?
@RR#6: Uh.. yeah... sheesh.
@RR#7: OK. Right.
@RR#8: Oh, go ahead. Turn 'em into dormitories. Why not? What, do you want them to be reconditioned to process cotton? Besides, the kids need somewhere to party. They need to party to get their minds off the total grind that is waiting for them once they finish school.
@RR#9: Um...right...I guess...
@RR#10: [Conversation between peon and AC RR editor:] "Uh, this is the only rant left for us to post today, it's incoherent drivel. Should I go ahead and post it?" "Yeesh. Uh, yeah, go ahead. We need to fill up the section of the paper with something."

Great Slide Shows

I love the Chronicle slide shows. Augusta in the 70s was a vibrant city. As much as I also love the written word, photos tell stories in ways words can't. But speaking of words, seeing the photos of the Augusta Herald headlines of the D-Day invasion showed how the importance of the invasion was felt in every town in America. It was the real deal. The people in Augusta and all over America knew western civilization depended on the men hitting the coast of France being victorious. Those photos of the men on the beach were viewed by every American back then. Things would be much different in Augusta, Georgia today if they hadn't succeeded. Those people reading The Herald back then knew it. I can feel it when I look at those D-Day photos and Herald headlines.

"President Obama, for ending

"President Obama, for ending all of these wars. That will go down in history. "

Obama hasn't ended any war. He, like many other stupid Americans, does not realize that the war we have been engaged in since the '90s is a permanent war that will never end. The only question is whether we will fight it here or over there. All Obama is doing is turning one of Al Qaeda's favorite training grounds back over to them and the Taliban.

Shame on President Obama for

Shame on President Obama for releasing five peril Taliban for Bowe Bergdahl who left his post to go and fellowship with his relatives. It just don't make sense to release the fast five for a deserter.

"Thank you, President Obama, for ending all of these wars."

It has always been easy to end a war if you're willing to lose.

Thanking a political leader for wasting the lives and limbs of thousands of American citizens, destroying thousands more American families, and wasting trillions of American dollars all seems calamitous to me.

The "wars" aren't over. The enemy is far from defeated. Sticking your head in the sand just so you can't see the alligator that's about to eat you is not wise behavior.

He needed to be released so

He needed to be released so that if he deserted, he can be tried for that.

In America, we don't desert our POW's, ever.

Bringing him home was the right thing to do.

CM - I agree In Part

The Deserter needed to be brought to Justice.
But we did not have to give up 5 Sr. Level terrorists to have justice.

He could have been tired in abstention like other defecting traitors, that give aid to the enemy, that directly resulted in US Solider deaths.

A cruise missile could have delivered the justice and sentence.
Maybe the Public could have even gotten to the see the Drone Impact Video.

The President already uses DRONES &cruise missiles all the time.

I hate to burst your bubble, but there's another election on July 22. And there's yet another on in November. You'll have to look at the campaign signs until then.

First, our policy is that we don't negotiate with terrorists, or it was before the Obama administration.

Second; this was NOT a soldier captured, while doing his job with honor and dignity!! This was a soldier who, with his own FREE WILL, CHOSE to leave his post and desert!! He CHOSE to turn himself in, to the taliban; who is known to torture and behead American military!! Who does this? Do you think any rational person would leave the safety of their post and turn themselves in, to radical terrorists?? There is only one way he survived this and that was to denounce his Country and swear allegiance to Allah!! THAT, is the way the Islamic Terrorists work!!

When he CHOSE to desert and turn himself in, the whole "We don't leave our people behind" DOES NOT APPLY to him!! Bringing him home was NOT the right thing to do!! He chose to leave and turn himself in, so coming home SHOULD have been his own responsibility!!

What about the American Pastor whose been hostage in Iran for years? Why aren't we working on bringing him home? He has been completely ignored by this administration!! Is it because he is Christian? Because he CHOSE to go over there? How is he ANY different than a soldier who deserted and CHOSE to leave?? Explain this to me where I can understand. Thought we don't leave Americans behind?? I guess that's only American's who Obama agrees with!!

Here is a Suggested SWAP for the Marine being held in Mexico

Read this somewhere yesterday.
Since Obama is busy freeing people: Terrorists, Deserters and Illegal's that are in prison and such.

I say lets do a prisoner exchange
we'll return 11 Million Illegals (estimated Mexican count) in
exchange for the US Marine.

That will go down in history? Sure, I suppose it will; along with all the other wars that have been ended at some point!! What is so special about ending this particular war, over others? Why is it so special that Obama ended a war?

Being historical, certainly doesn't mean its a good thing!! History is written with examples of good and bad!! My guess is, when we ANNOUNCE a time table for departure, it only emboldens the enemy!! I wouldn't be so quick to thank him, as this could turn out disasterous for the people over there and for US!!

America has deserted it POW's

The last Vietnam POW's rescue mission was scrubbed a few hours before it was scheduled to take off from Thailand in 1987.

Due to Political Issues and Vietnam opening up its markets to the USA.

Those 23 were abandoned.

It is Interesting that the United States Senate Select Committee on POW/MIA Affairs of 1991–1993 was led by Senators John Kerry, Bob Smith, and John McCain. They found "no compelling evidence that proves that any American remains alive in captivity in Southeast Asia.

2 years later there was Federal Level allegations that claimed that Sen John Kerry had shredded documents, suppressed testimony, and sanitized findings during his time as chairman of the committee

Korea POW's we're kept by China and USSR and some are still living in RUSSIA and remarried and have families.

Face it US Military POW's are the Government 2nd to the last worry.

It is not right, we owe better to our soliders

Wallyworld can't find USA products

When Walmart Stores (WMT) pledged last year to buy an extra $250 billion in U.S.-made goods over the next decade, it appeared to be just what was needed to help move America's putative manufacturing renaissance from rhetoric to reality.

But suppliers trying to reshore production as part of the initiative by the world's largest retailer are running into practical problems as they try to restart long-idled corners of U.S. manufacturing.

Companies that make the leap have to grapple with a host of challenges, including a shallow pool of component suppliers, an inexperienced workforce, and other shortcomings that developed during the country's long industrial decline.

"A lot of the tribal knowledge and skill sets are gone because the humans who used to do that work have either retired or died," says H. Kim Kelley, the CEO of Hampton Products International, a privately held maker of locks, lighting and other household hardware. The Foothill Ranch, California-based company began selling products made in Asia to Walmart in the 1990s and is now supplying it with some U.S.-made products.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Imagine THAT!! Kinda funny since they caused some of this....but we need our manufacturing back in THIS country.

inexperienced workforce,

The reason they are inexperienced is because we PAY them to stay at home & reproduce.

They have that technique down....we need to flip the coin now.
