Rants & Raves

Comments from readers:

SOMEONE HAD A RANT about Ron Cross not being in favor of booting Kay Allen. That is totally untrue and she and her husband are both gone. A politician can never please everyone about everything but the good things that Ron Cross has done for Columbia County would not fit on this page.

I KNOW THERE IS A 5 person race for Mayor of Augusta as I read the Chronicle every day. But I hope no one votes for Mason. Why on earth is he calling people in Columbia County with his recorded messages to vote for him? We have enough issues in Columbia County to worry about without the annoying phone calls from mayoral candidates in Richmond County.

A BIG RAVE TO THE gentleman who wished us a Happy Mother’s Day at the Garlic Clove on Thursday and surprised us when the wait staff told us after he had left that he had treated us to lunch! Thank you so much, sir; we will pass it on!

JUST RECEIVED A flyer from Rick Allen saying he is PRO-CONSTITUTION, made my blood boil. Every patriot from the revolution ’til this very day never thought it was optional.

I SURE DO HOPE that the real yellow pages telephone directory will be in one book this year and that they will include everybody’s land line phones and not just AT&T customers.

MY WIFE HAS A CHRONIC cough that doctors have not been able to relieve. I sent an e-mail to GRU Health and to Emory Hospital the first of March, 2014. Emory sent a reply the same day. It’s now May 13 and still no response from GRU Health.

SHAME ON THE Augusta Chronicle for printing a story on the Augusta Prep Girls’ soccer team winning the state title, a history-making event for Augusta Prep, that was clearly about Stratford Academy losing, not about Prep winning!

WHAT IS IT WITH ALL the re-zoning petitions for apartments along Skinner Mill Road in west Augusta? The zoning commission can expect a long, hard fight from the property owners along Skinner Mill! Too much traffic, low-end housing = crimes and property devaluation! Why don’t these builders build in areas already zoned for apartments?

WHY WOULD ANY candidate for mayor want an endorsement from Deke Copenhaver? Augusta can show very little while Copenhaver has been mayor.

Emailing Hospitals With Medical Problems

You email hospitals about a medical problem and expect answers? That Emory reply must be interesting. Good luck.

You must not be paying attention to current events - because there's a whole boatload of current politicians who seem to believe the constitution is optional. Heck, many of them seem to confuse it with Charmin.

Outrageous ain't it?

We had the same problem with

We had the same problem with GRU when trying to get an appointment to see a doctor when my granddaughter was suspected of having a serious illness. With GRU it would have been six months before an appointment was available. Emory saw her immediately and has been wonderful. The trip to Emory is easy every three months. Only an emergency will ever take us to GRU.

If you have allergies

and take Ace Inhibitors for your allergy, one of the side effects is coughing. I suffered with this for three months before the doctor realized the reason. It took several weeks to get out of my system, but the coughing stopped. I wish you well, constant coughing is no laughing matter.

Could be that some of the people Mason is calling took their phone numbers with them to Columbia County and the predictive dialers dial Richmond County numbers. I have a customer that lived in Goshen but now in NC and the number I dial is a 706 Augusta number to reach her on her landline.

Telemedicine is Helpful, But...

Corgimom, although telemedicine using cameras and so on is a helpful tool, trying to diagnose someone via email from a layman is difficult if not impossible. I read some of these medical advice columns and they will list possibilities and usually advise you to see a physician. The ranter is just being unrealistic.

You guys missed the point on the two medical institutions.

I think the R&R posted above was simply making the point that GRU didn't see fit to respond. It is government and just like the VA and all other state and federal government agencies it is overstaffed with people who don't want to help and are basically doing nothing. Kinda like the Obamacare sign up contractor that has quotas of 1 or 2 signups a month. He is also being paid billions of dollars.

nocnoc, they have to be

nocnoc, they have to be located in a superhot, very affluent part of a city to stay desirable.

I can show you some in Charlotte that are in Myers Park, the old, big money area, they were built in the 10's, 20's, and 30's and they get PREMIUM rents.

Other than that, yep, they ALL go downhill.

GRU

Sweet son - you are SO right - they are after the money not interested in truly helping human beings. Once seen - you are lucky if you were - you are in a pile of other records being used for "proof" I guess, that they are doing something, but not doing what they should - help patients who try to get help. Try to get another appointment - - - good luck!

Karl Rove Was Accurate About Clinton's Brain Injury

All the liberal press jumped on Karl Rove for implying Hillary Clinton had a serious brain injury. What does Bill Clinton do? He slams Rove for talking about Hillary's health and then said she had a terrible concussion that took 6 months to get over. Double standard again.

Telemedicine

Telemedicine is a useful tool when you have a healthcare professional with the patient (Nurse. CMA or ET) that can provide vitals and do an exam and relay to the DR, DO, NP or PA their findings. We use it in a practice I am accociated with in KY for Schools, Homebound Hospice Patients and Nursing Homes.

Riverman, as you well know,

Riverman, as you well know, even a mild concussion can take months to fully recover from.

Considering how old she is- which is a major factor in traumatic brain injury- she did ok. I don't think it was near as major or traumatic as some people made it out to be.
