Bogus officer says she’s seeking drugs

SPARTANBURG, S.C. — Deputies say a woman is going to homes in Spartanburg County telling residents she is an undercover officer looking for prescription drugs.

Authorities said the 48-year-old woman was let into a home in Greer on Tuesday after saying she needed to search it for drugs.

After the woman was told there were no drugs, she asked whether anyone else in the neighborhood might have prescription drugs and searched that house, police say. Investigators think the woman has done this at other homes before.

Tuition will increase at Coastal Carolina

CONWAY, S.C. — Coastal Carolina University trustees have voted to raise tuition about 3 percent.

Trustees say they have been able to avoid raising in-state tuition for two years but had to raise more money to stay competitive with other schools. The school will also raise technology fees and room and board rates starting in the fall.

The university says in-state undergraduate tuition will increase by 2.9 percent, or an additional $140 per semester starting this fall. Out-of-state undergraduate tuition will increase by nearly 3 percent, or an extra $335 per semester.
