I HAVE ONE QUESTION for Michelle Nunn, Sam Nunn’s daughter, who is running for Senate. Will she vote to repeal Obamacare? I don’t care if she walks on water and help start the Red Cross, we need to get rid this albatross that Sen. Harry Reid and her fellow Democrats hung around our necks.

I WAS ONCE AGAIN overwhelmed by the Sacred Heart Garden Festival, which was this past weekend. The great hall had unique and fabulous vendors with items you would have to travel far and wide to find. The preview party was one of the best in town. Great food, people and displays. Each garden on tour was unique and amassed with gorgeous plantings. The speakers were carefully selected and were so interesting and informative. If you missed it, please put it in your calendar for next year. End of April.

GOV. NIKKI HALEY, South Carolina is doing what all governors should do regarding issuing of food stamps. Yes, the truly needy should be helped, but those who possess strong mind and body can help with cleaning streets, cutting grass along highways, working with churches to make our community a better place to live. I do not think the taxpayers should pay for TV and luxuries in our prison system. Let the prisoners work on a farm and produce their own food. Those receiving food stamps, etc., should pass trimonthly drug screenings. The taxpayer needs reassurance that our money is being used wisely.

EVERY TIME SOMEONE almost runs me off the road, they seem to have an educator tag.

OUR SOUTHERN HATS off to The Augusta Chronicle for such a heartwarming story about our Southern honorees. As a young woman, I have been taught the truth about why we fought for Southern independence. The Confederate Medal of Honor. Need I say more?

HOW PLEASED I AM that our graduation rates have gone up so much. Do you know why? It’s because our educational system has been dumbed down in order to appear that we have students who can actually read, write and compute at a level that would allow graduation requirements to be met. These statistics show only those who have graduated, not those who would have met true requirements for a high school diploma. I suggest that we begin to stop listening to the numbers of graduates, but those graduates who will become active citizens after graduation.

When push comes to shove...

….I agree with nocnoc. I have been listening to an all day radio broadcast, while driving in my vehicle, of WJSV (Wash DC) that was recorded on Sept 21, 1939. All shows, commercials, news, sports, etc are on there. Today a speech by FDR in a special congressional meeting on the Neutrality Act was broadcast. This was when Germany was invading Poland and had France in it's sights. His appeal to the political parties to unite to repeal the act so England and France could get US supplies while depriving Germany of the same was met with many interruptions of applause. It reminded me of Pres Bush when addressing Congress after 911. There are times when we as Americans need to unite for a common cause against those who would like to see us destroyed. Sometimes the problem is agreeing what those causes are.

End Mitch McConnell's obstruction in the Senate.

Outrageous. Yet again, Majority Leader Harry Reid brought an increase in the minimum wage to the Senate floor- and Republicans blocked it. The GOP's refusal to even consider this common sense congressional action to help working Americans rise out of poverty is repugnant. But there's a big silver lining for Democrats to this particular election year vote: We have their opposition to fair wages on the record- and we can use that record to make sure they pay a price at the polls in November. If we can tap into the passion people feel about giving workers more economic stability and turn it into votes for Democratic candidates who want to make that happen, we can defeat obstruction Republicans from coast to coast. Thank you for setting Democrats up for the big wins in November.

Michelle Nunn

Sometimes we are tempted to give Southern Democrats like Michelle Nunn the benefit of the doubt and think she couldn’t possibly behave like Harry Reid and Co. We believe we understand her values and she will be okay. The truth is she will probably be more extreme than the socialists she will be rubbing shoulders with as she attempts to prove her liberal credentials. She will strive to gain a national reputation at the expense of conservative Georgians. Remember Jimmy Carter and the embarrassment he was to our people.

OK Stonner

We raise the minimum wage June 1st three bucks and hour. Today you pay say $5 for a burger meal, most of an hours wages and you will do so for a few weeks. Then the burger people that pay these wages have got to go up to stay in business. Now it is August and you pay $8 for the same meal. What are you going to do? Ask them to raise it again? No you should work harder and be rewarded. I have watched people in the fast food market in our area that have worked their way from order taker to manager and make a decent living. Till we get back to basics in this country and give an honest days work for and honest days pay we will be stuck in Lyndon Baine Johnsons Great Society.

To Stoner likely typo..

Dear Sir.
I think you accidentally typed Mitch McConnell instead of Harry Reid when speaking about obstruction in the Senate.

Since Mr. Harry Reid currently controls the Senate and is the Majority Leader. He alone is the only in a position to obstruct the senate.

Mr. Stoner. As an estimator

Mr. Stoner.

As an estimator for construction projects I calculate the cost of my work on the cost of materials AND labor. If the wages go up then the cost is calculated at a higher price along with the workers comp insurance, SS, and medicare. The markup stays the same and the price increases. A $3.00 increase translates to a $4.95 increase to the customer.

"The GOP's refusal to even

"The GOP's refusal to even consider this common sense "

Increasing the minimum wage is NOT, I repeat NOT, common sense. Last quarter this country had a 0.1% growth rate. The last thing we need right now is to impose higher labor costs on businesses and the resulting inflation on the already Obamacare bankrupted middle class. Employers are already cutting jobs and cutting full time jobs back to part time because of Obamacare. An artificial, unwarranted, unjustified, and unearned increase in the minimum wage is the last thing they, and our economy, need right now.

Sam Nunn spoke at our Security Conf. back in 1998

During the Meet and greet I spoke with him for about 4 mins.
I wasn't impressed with him or his staff or with his security team.

As I have found frequently in political families....
the apple does not fall far from the same political tree.
Even if MS. Nunn switched parties I'd doubt her sincerity to stay the course, just based on Family politics and connection.

Just like Jimmy JR. who is running and flopping.

Regarding Min Wage increases

Here is another alternative.
Eliminate ALL State and Federal taxes for Minimum Wage Earners.

Business will hire more workers and there will be none of the
usual price inflation that follows such increases.

Stoner the Rep House has sent

Stoner the Rep House has sent over 200 bills to the Senate and Harry sits on them. What is your point? The Senate seems to think all bills should start and end with them alone. The minimum wage ruse is a do nothing venture that is a political ploy to just muster up angst of naive folks who think it really means something.

Michelle Nunn....another

Michelle Nunn....another lefty liberal from a lefty liberal family.

Her only advantage in the race is that SHE HAS NEVER HELD ANY OFFICE so nobody can say "she voted for Obamacare". But don't kid yourself......she is an Obamacare supporter and a "give everybody free Medicaid and let the few middle class people still working pay for it" politician.

We have enough incompetence and lack of experience in office with Obama....we DO NOT NEED Michelle Nunn as a senator. We need to keep a conservative Republican as our GA senator and help put Harry Reid in a small office near the men's room. The last thing we need is a Medicaid expanding lefty liberal like Michelle Nunn.

Where is the Justice anymore

Sex offender headed back to prison AGAIN.

He was paroled from prison in 2009 after serving about half of the prison sentence imposed for crimes relating to his flashing of little girls on their way to school in 2001.

Then right after release in 2009, according to court records, he started raping a 10 y/o.

Then 2+ years ago he was the parent that flagged down, and stopped a RCBOE School Bus. Then proceeded to assault the bus driver who refused to release a child to him before her schedule drop off stop?
http://chronicle.augusta.com/news/crime-courts/2012-01-26/man-charged-af...

Well it turns out this Convicted Sex Offender while out on parole and likely having violated his parole was able to stay out to continue raping the child for another 12+ months.

So he is back in doing another 20 years. since he is 37 now and will be 57 if he serves the full sentence. He will again be a threat to our community. Sadly I am willing to bet he serves 15 years and is back out at age 48.

While parole facts are sketchy ...

I have to ask what happen to protecting the public, when a Sex offender person Violates Parole.

Is our Court system failing due to case load and or inattentiveness.

Anyone who'd let a convicted pervert like this guy out early should be held responsible for the guys subsequent crimes. A sexual predator like this guy will never change and he should get the death penalty for raping a young child. Shame on the courts for reducing his sentence.

Fair?

Stoner posted:

. . . opposition to fair wages on the record. . . .

What is fair about coercion? Raising the federal minimum wage is coercive to business owners. Government should not force people to pay more for services. It is the function of the marketplace to set prices and wages.

Remember what George Washington said:

Government is not reason. It is not eloquence. It is force. Like fire, it can be a troublesome servant or a fearful master.

If you want to help President

If you want to help President Obama finish his term strong and enact progressive policies, such as extending unemployment benefits with no strings attach.Georgia Gov.Nathan Deal want to drug test people who get unemployed insurance an the bias part of this is blacks make up 60 percent of recipents who are receiving unemployment insurance in Georgia. Voters need to invest now- seriously, this minute - to elect Democratic governors across the country. And how about this for a legacy? We could help President Obama AND stop Tea Party once and for all. It's better than letting nutty extremists go state- to state enacting anti- women's health policies, restricting voting rights, and sabotaging the Affordable Care Act. Enough! The Tea Party thinks it can send extremists to statehouses and Congress across America. But, bless their hearts, those Tea Party and conservatives wacko - birds are trying mislead the public, but we know what party (Republicans)is against working families even singer Steve Wonder can see that picture vividly.

NocNoc partial agreement

"Regarding Min Wage increases
Here is another alternative.
Eliminate ALL State and Federal taxes for Minimum Wage Earners."
May cut the taxes in half and for every six months of continued satisfactory employment give them another small boost in wage. So many out there work (rather just hold a job)just to be able to get that free unemployment money. Better yet implement the Fair Tax

No doubt about it, somebody is trying to mislead the public.

Are "Tea Party" supporters "extremists," or are they citizens of all stripes who believe in the rule of law, less government intrusion into our lives, rational government spending, and lower taxes?

The left has spent several years now trying to cast them as "extremists." I don't think it has worked. In fact, I think it has backfired and shown the lefties for what they are.

We'll see how it goes in November.

The "Minimum Wage" Debate...

....is a classic example of the difference between liberalism and conservatism. Emotion versus reality. Agenda versus facts.

If one is willing to THINK, rather than simply REACT, its value to society is a pretty simple decision.

Oedipus Obama is the

Oedipus Obama is the extremist-remember the most liberal Senator, etc. The Tea party isn't extreme at all-actually more representative of the population than the minority of progressives in the US (conservatives are still the largest voting block followed by moderates and the least progressives. Extending unemployment insurance with no strings attached would be grossly irresponsible for any politician to support-Dem or Rep. The only person who has hindered the mandated implementation of the ACA has been OBAMA-no matter all the rhetoric and activity the prez is the only person who has changed it. The ACA will be paid for by mostly middle class working stiffs with all the new taxes-so even if you qualify for a subsidy that is offset by staggering new taxes (they tried the hide the money under the cup trick). The ACA though is a failure according to the CBO because it will not accomplish a single goal promised in ten years-no 200 billion savings trillion deficit, still 30 million uninsured, cost of health escalating still, fewer people will choose to work so GDP drops-which my Lord we can't go much lower, and in ten years we will have a huge deficit of physicians-because 9 out 10 physicians now are unhappy and tell youth don't go into medicine. The plan is a disaster-and they still haven't finished setting it all up. The SCOTUS effectively supported and killed the ACA with their ruling-that they can't mandate health care insurance but they can tax you if you don't, and the killer-States can opt out. The whole scheme died with that alone, but also we see our youth isn't as altruist (and believe all that Star trek crap as the ideologue Obama who has no grip on reality) and aren't willing to foot the health care of their elders who didn't bother to care of themselves and now want to pick up the pieces from their bad choices. Who can blame them?
