Rants & Raves

LORI MYLES, YOU don’t have to drop out of the mayor race; your interview with The Augusta Chronicle will take care of that.

THIS IS A BIG rant on President Obama for again delaying the Keystone pipeline for political reasons. All you liberal Democrats who support him and think he is so great should pay $6 for a gallon of gas while Republicans should pay $2.

I DISAGREE WITH THE writer who said white people can’t go along with black people. Most of the leaders in Augusta are black, even the sheriff of Richmond County is black, so some white people must have voted for him. I watch some of the Augusta Commission shows on TV, and they are a joke. None of them can agree on anything.

NOW COMMISSIONER William Fennoy wants to open his mouth out loud about Charles Walker. I hope he notes if Walker is paying his own way to and from Augusta? His own medical bills at GRU? How about noting the different names of his current places like the CSRA Classic is now what? Augusta City Classic? What is the new name of Georgia Personnel? Did it make sure to get a business license? If not, how long has it been running under its new name without a business license? Inquiring minds want to know. And I’m sure the Feds do, too.

RESIDENTS OF SOUTH Augusta, you need to be serious about the folks wanting your vote. Are they going to look out for the other parts of Richmond County – Hephzibah, Blythe, Gracewood, Goshen, McBean, just to name a few? Yes, we need attention downtown, but remember where you live and what you need also.

THERE IS A SCAM out there. A family member was called by two men posing as detectives. Using the same name. Had her information and told her she missed a court appearance. She would have to pay a fine of over $1,000 to correct their files. To go get two green dot cash cards to pay the fine, or they would send a deputy to come get her and take her to jail. She thought a minute and said, come and get me. They hung up and she called and made a report of the scam. It seems local authorities were aware of the scam. Yesterday, there was an article in the paper about the scam. Beware, just another criminal trying to steal your money.

I AM EMBARRASSED that our educational system in America grants doctoral degrees to people who can’t make a coherent statement.

Yeah, that Nebraska court decision invalidating some of that route, yeah, boy, they sure had some nerve, making that court decision, didn't they? Why, EVERYBODY just knows that Obama has the Nebraska courts just eating out of his hand, because Nebraska is so wildly radical and liberal, you know.

Jeepers.

Yep

Obama will do everything he can to put off the decision on the pipeline until after the midterms. He is not stupid.

NO!

"Can just one day go by without any talk about politics?"

Because it is politics driving this country to rack and ruin. Whether you think it is Republicans or Democrats at fault, it is an active and ongoing battle/debate.

It should be embarrassing for Augusta to have such a slate of yahoos running for mayor. The only ones who can speak like they have some education are HBA and Davis.

Plea not to discuss Poiltics

I can understand why Socialists and Liberal don't want an open discussion on Politics as politics are now in the USA (USSA).

The less people know prior to the election, the better for them.

Augusta Mayorial Election

Are write-in votes for others currently not in the Mayorial race legitimate in the election process of the Augusta Mayor?

Oh, sure, the elections hinge

Oh, sure, the elections hinge on whether or not the pipeline is approved. Absolutely.

Honestly, who really believes this nonsense?

While the Keystone pipeline may be of utmost importance to some, I bet most folks don't know about it and don't much care, one way or the other.

Who cares?

“This decision is irresponsible, unnecessary and unacceptable,” Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee Chairman Mary Landrieu, a Louisiana Democrat, said in a statement that called the move “nothing short of an indefinite delay.”

Environmentalist VS Unions

In normal times the UNIONS would WIN.

But IF you buy into the concept....If is it good for American then it is BAD for the current Administration Socialist Agenda. Then the Greenies will win.

All sides agree the Pipeline would create between 10,000 and 25,000 SKILLED JOBS Instantly overnight. Plus related support and supply jobs.

But for the DEM's to keep their head about water in the 2014 election, are they willing to stall JOB Growth to appease the Greenies? While promising the UNION Leaders the jobs will come after the mid-term elections?

Remember Uncle Joe is Strong Union and if he makes a run in 2016 he needs them badly.

"Yeah, that Nebraska court

"Yeah, that Nebraska court decision invalidating some of that route,"

The court decision was not about the route....it was about the procedure and which state agency(s) were involved. Using the correct procedure the route will most likely remain the same.

Every governmental agency, environmental or otherwise, has signed off on the pipeline. It is MUCH safer to move that oil in a pipeline than by Warren Buffet's railroad (which is probably the real reason Obama delayed the pipeline along with the politics for the upcoming election).

The oil is being moved one way or another. The question is should we create jobs and move the oil for 1/3 the cost or continue to use dangerous rail cars and to line Warren Buffet's and Berkshire Hathaway's railroad pockets.

Obama needs to quit playing politics and favoring Democrat donors by delaying the creation of 40,000 badly needed jobs for a project that is eventually going to happen one way or another.

About Augusta's Mayoral Candidates....

Whether, or not, they are an "embarrassment" is an issue worth discussing. I'm certainly not embarrassed by them.

Some have little or no political experience, some have considerable experience. Some aren't as articulate, or as educated as the others. None are white.

What must one do, as a candidate, not to be an "embarrassment?" The filing period came and went. Apparently the candidates filed, paid their fee, and now it's up to the voters to select the best candidate possible. If there are better qualified people out there that could have filed as candidates, obviously they chose not to enter the race. Why they might have made that choice is another issue that could be discussed.

I plan to do a good job examining the records of those who are running and vote for the candidate I believe will do the best job. If he/she doesn't win, so be it. If he/she does win and doesn't measure up, I'll vote for someone else next time. That's the way it is supposed to work.

I don't consider them an "embarrassment." As a resident of ARC, I have absolutely no problem voting for one of the five who have filed. If (and when) I become "embarrassed" by the candidates I suppose I can either stay home from the polls, or move somewhere else where I'm not "embarrassed" by those who seek political office.

Again, Dichotomy, I bet you

Again, Dichotomy, I bet you that the majority of Americans don't know or care about the Keystone pipeline.

They are too busy keeping up with the Kardashians, wondering who's going to win Dancing With the Stars, asking themselves why Gwyneth Paltrow is getting a divorce, and being concerned that Justin Bieber isn't going to have his "sirrup".

Inarticulate and unpolished

Inarticulate and unpolished local leadership is a hinderance to presenting the area to prospective industry and people considering moving here. As I've said before, what happens in Augusta has a big impact for the whole CSRA, so those of us not living/voting in Richmond County still have a vested interest in its success.

It is a shame that the political environment is such that people with more education and "polish" won't step up to the plate. It IS an embarrassment IMO for the city/county to be unable to motivate better candidates.

A group of NC ministers, most

A group of NC ministers, most from the United Church of Christ, have sued the State of North Carolina regarding the same-sex marriage ban, saying that the ban is not allowing them to practice their religion.

This is the first time ever in the country that a church organization has filed to overturn a same-sex marriage ban.

I expect more to follow suit.

That is the $64,000 question

That is the $64,000 question Harley. Unfortunately there are too many who support the likes of Marion Williams, and reject others that are not "black enough". I've heard it said that HBA suffers from that very thing.

I would just love to see some young, educated, energetic blood injected into the mix. It has happened in big cities everywhere, why not here?
