Drilling, blasting operations scheduled next week in Columbia County

  • Follow Metro

Beginning Monday, Blair Construction will conduct drilling and blasting operations at two area locations.

The operations may produce loud noises, according to Columbia County director of Emergency and Operations Pam Tucker.

“In case you hear some booms next week, there’s not need to be alarmed,” Tucker said in an e-mail.

The first location is at the intersection of Interstate 20 and Highway 221 for the installation of a county sewer line. The project will begin Monday and continue through the week.

The second location is at Fort Gordon Recreation Department, as part of a project for Augusta Utilities. The project will begin Monday afternoon or Tuesday morning and continue into the following week.
