Comments from readers:

MERCER WAS THE only Georgia team in the NCAA championship tournament because they played well and have great fans who kept it classy. Go Bears!

MARION WILLIAMS (Disbelief X 2) 1. Multiple non-tax paying years, maybe he deleted his reminders from his HARD DRIVE. Maybe we should initiate an effort to check his hard drive and also look into his other taxpaying history priorities (state and federal). 2. What type of folks vote for such a person? Could it be the same folks that voted for our president twice and are not really looking for good representation?

RANT FOR THE Brother’s Keeper program. This is the year 2014, this should not even be needed. Make daddies take care of the offspring they bring into the world. We working taxpayers are tired of this insanity

BECAUSE OF THE ex-coroner’s long ties with the “Good Ole Boys Club,” the true depth of his alleged corruption and thievery will probably never be known. And he probably will get a light sentence through a plea deal. But when the Grim Reaper takes him away, God will know. May the Devil not have mercy on his soul.

THE INTERNET IS NOT Obama’s to give away! It belongs to the taxpayers of the United States; we footed the bill to build it. Next he will be selling the White House.

WE HAVE ONLY one landline phone. It was down only because the tree branches fell on it. Once the branches were lifted off and AT&T repaired the line, we got calls checking on us. Sometimes it pays to be old fashioned. We have been urged to join the digital age, to get and pay for Internet home access, etc. I need that $40+ for expenses and retirement savings.

BRAVO TO THE SMALL businesses not doing credit cards. It not only saves them and the customers from the hassle of thieves who steal the data, it also helps people not get into credit card debts. We really need to go back to the old ways of where we all save our own retirement funds for ourselves, not depend on work places or banks to do it for us. After all, most people change up work places every few years anyway as young’uns today switch jobs or unfortunately, when businesses fail and workers have to move on.

Fight for Medicaid expansion in Georgia.
Unpublished

There are still 25 states, including Georgia, where Republicans have blocked Medicaid expansion- leaving nearly 5 million Americans without the health care coverage they were meant to receive with the passage of the Affordable Care Act. In Georgia, Governor Nathan Deal is blocking Medicaid expansion for 409,000 Georgians. Republicans in Congress have voted more than 50 times to repeal or weaken Obamacare. But some Republican governors, like Jan Brewer if Arizona and John Kasich of Ohio, have expanded Medicaid because it is the right thing to do for the people of their states. If Arizona and Ohio can do it, so can Georgia.
It's makes a difference who get elected, so if the Governor of Georgia was a democrat Uninsured Georgians would not be denied health care insurance. So, to the uninsured who had door closed for Medicaid get out and vote in April and November. To amend a problem Georgians got to get rid of Republican Governor Nathan Deal and there's is only one way to do that, show up at voting polls in your district.

i'm with whoever wants

i'm with whoever wants deadbeat daddies and mommies to pay for their spawn. but good luck with that one. those purported humans know how to work the system. they get training in this from the time they can pick up their first taxpayer-paid gerber biscuit, so until we cut out the freebies and the assistance and all the other things that enable these life forms to procreate without any intention of supporting said creations, it will go on and on and on ad infinitum, ad nauseum.

Handing over the Internet

I understand why other countries want complete control over the internet out of the USA hands. It isn't all censorship, taxes and spying on their part as it is the USA censorship & Spying on the US's part.

Those of us in the IT Industry for some time have known the countries have been pushing hard to wrestle control of the Internet away from the USA in order to control USA spying on their countries and people conversations.

BUT the UN is only a tool to accomplish the wanted end result.
What every country wants, except the USA, Independent SOVEREIGNTY the control of its borders . Who and what comes and leaves.

But look deeper into WHY,
Looking at who put this proposal forth, it may clue you why they want it? The support for the turnover comes from China, Russia,
India,Brazil, Saudi Arabia and Iran. All countries that USA has
been actively spying on and/or at TCSM war with for 20+ odds years.

If you really want to understand why the countries want to get the USA out of control look no further that the Headlines where the words NSA, SNOWDEN and Internet are used.

It is not an accident that 20 years ago The Pacific rim Internet and the Western Internet were all Home run to Mae-East and Mae-West which are both Internet exchange points (IXP) in the USA. All data crossing the Pacific rim end back here and the same goes for the other parts of the world.

Also look at the Declassified materials.
http://nsa.gov1.info/surveillance/

IMPORTANT NOTE:
While I have ZERO problems with the NSA doing its spying job overseas.
BUT, I am in strong opposition of any US Agency turning that microscope back on its own US Citizens, on a scale beyond what George Orwell, the writer of 1984 Big Brother could imagine. Especially when it violates the US Constitution by searching 245 million USA citizens without Probable Cause or a warrant.

A process includes spending $100's of Millions dollars paid for by the taxpayers to spy on themselves. $$$$$$$$ used to purchase their own purchase or surfing tracking data from 3rd parties like: Google, yahoo, ASK, Youtube, and 100's major stores and suppliers.

SUMMARY
So the Internet hand off is as much about keeping the USA government out of their countries and lives, just as it is about each country having the ability to control the information they want their citizens to hear, see and share.

Taking Chips Off The Table

Every time the dissatisfaction of the citizens with the settlement Columbia County made with Kay Allen is voiced, we have someone condescendingly explaining the difference in civil and criminal cases. The fact is most totally understand the concept. But in criminal trials it’s not at all unusual for the judge to order restitution in the amount that was misappropriated. In many cases of this type the prosecutor will demand restitution.

What this settlement between the county and Kay Allen does is take the restitution of the other half the misappropriated funds off the table. The settlement creates the appearance that restitution has been made to the degree the victim, the county, feels it has been repaid. That makes it tougher for the DA and judge by giving them less to work with. The true victims are the people of the county and they’re not one bit happy with the settlement and only half restitution county officials received.

Tax Commish

One problem about prosecution, RM, is the law that was modified a few years ago to allow county commissions to enter into the collection contracts instead of the tax commissioner directly was drafted so poorly that a good lawyer can drive a Mack truck through the holes in the swiss cheese. And Ms. Allen has a couple of good lawyers.

District Attorney Wright does not like to lose cases, so she seldom takes chances, preferring instead not to prosecute difficult cases like this one. However, I think she should swallow her pride and bring this case to a grand jury, even if she ends up with egg on her face. People want to see the justice system at least try to wipe the smugness off Ms. Allen's face.

"What type of folks vote for

"What type of folks vote for such a person? "

The Augusta/RC majority type person. Which explains why we are going broke and this "person", who is behind in HIS taxes, is clamoring to raise OUR taxes, along with his like minded, similarly intellectually equipped colleagues. You know....the ones who said "let's get some revenue". The ones who will give Paine $5 million one week and holler to raise YOUR taxes the next week. The ones who DO NOT CARE about the working property owners in this county. Those working property owners are not the ones THESE people represent. The new majority. The sign of things to come. The "let's get some revenue" majority has arrived. Working, property owning taxpayers......YOU ARE SCREWED.

Get out now if you can. Let them get that revenue from THIER constituents. It's obvious the new regime will never be able to manage a budget. They don't even try. They pass the buck to some underling who has no authority and when they don't get an EASY answer they say "let's get some revenue". Let the "majority" start paying the bills and laugh at them from another nearby county where you actually GET something for your tax money and garbage fees are cheaper. I'm getting tired of supporting, and now being governed by, the welfare city. And it's just getting started. It all goes downhill from here.

more to the rave

It's very possible that the Mercer rave was not mine, but I actually sent one in very similar to this but the AC edited it, something that I have not had occur. I actually said that the FGCU were extremely disrespectful to Mercer at the playoff game, ESPN2 gave virtually no air time to Mercer during the game at all, the local news barely acknowledged Georgia's only team in the NCAA tournament, and yet Mercer still won through the talent of the players and the classiness of the supportive fans who chose not to react to these slights. (and Go Bears, of course!). Just to elaborate, some of the rival fans were so far out of line in their comments, gestures, and behavior in general but Mercer purposefully did not react, and eventually some of these boors were ejected from the arena. Based on articles and rants posted on such heinous behavior at sporting events these days, I supposed this is now the norm and not the exception, and what a shame. Praying for the safety of all of the athletes and the spectators who attempt to "keep it classy".

Morion Williams is a joke and an embarrassment to the city of Augusta. He continues to demand the information from the hard drive of Fred Russell when in fact he doesn't even know what the hard drive is. He thinks the hard drive is what makes the paper come out! Go away Morion Williams.

I think it's great that Americans will buy their own health insurance.

Because I'm tired of paying hospital bills for people that can well afford insurance, but would rather smoke, drink, and go on vacations, including the casinos.

A Misdemeanor traffic violation is an 'arrest' but the citation is issued in lieu of taking violators to jail. It is a courtesy.

Miranda warnings are only required when the interview goes from investigatory to accusatory. Basically means when a police officer gets away from basic personal information and starts asking questions which might cause you to incriminate your self then Miranda is required.

Yes it is great they can buy their health insurance,.....just wish they would pay the whole premium. Ten dollars a month won't buy it.....all should have to pay at least $50 a month....that should be workable for the poor.

Seenit, people that are poor

Seenit, people that are poor don't have $50 per month. Look at that story, about the woman who is going to be an assistant manager at the fast-food restaurant. She will probably earn $25,000 per year if she is lucky. Then look at the price of housing in Augusta, and look at the huge list for low-income housing. Usually the list is closed, you can't even get on it, and the wait to get it takes years.

When I was poor, we couldn't even afford to go to McDonald's. It was $3.00 to feed my husband and myself, and we didn't have an extra $3.00.

If we were going somewhere that we'd be gone awhile, I'd pack food, because it was just too expensive for us to eat out anywhere.

I'm glad that she is working, I'm glad that she got insurance, and I'm glad that it only costs her .48 per month. I'd rather pay for a subsidy than enormous medical bills for somebody, it's far cheaper.

Seenit, my dad used to buy

Seenit, my dad used to buy tomatoes hauled up from Mexico.

He paid .10 per pound for them. He'd buy them by the lug case.

Mexico has a much longer growing season than the US, they can grow veggies much longer than we can, they hardly ever get frost down there, like we do.

With few exceptions, fresh tomatoes can't be grown outdoors in the US in the winter, and hothouse tomatoes are EXPENSIVE as all get out!

But you have to wash them carefully, the hygiene down there is very poor and they were watered with contaminated water.

all year long thing

These veggies are coming all year --not just in season.

We have been bled dry by overlooking how much we depend on other countries to grow our food & etc.....the day will come when we will regret this & I hope our people will be able to do SOMETHING here in the US with out starving to death..

About the insurance thingy---I know what it is like to be poor--been there & done that....I still feel some can pay SOMETHINg & a little more for their care....cell phones---cable tv--nail jobs--hair extensions--hub caps--all fthat seems to be in the house.

My computer is acting crazy---so will seeyall later...It won't restore either.
