Rants & Raves

I WOULD LIKE to see all Richmond County sheriff’s deputy units have push bars installed. They can be extremely helpful in clearing up minor traffic accidents and vehicles that are broken down by simply pushing them out of the way. The state patrol and other large departments understand this. Richmond County deputies are not the most skilled at accident scene management, as indicated by the massive traffic jams for the most minor events. It is important to keep traffic moving.

TO THE MISINFORMED ranter who stated Gov. Nathan Deal was trying to get in good with blacks, taking the blame for Mayor Kasim Reed of Atlanta, a big rant. The governor is the CEO of the state, and it was his responsibility to ensure that interstates and state roads were clear. He failed the citizens of the metro area, not the mayor of Atlanta.

THE URBAN Redevelopment Authority will be overseeing tens of millions of dollars in bond money. It seems to me you would want an accountant on there to make sure money was being spent properly. What expertise in this field does Brad Owens have besides being a failed bar owner and slinging mud on the Internet? Appoint someone who actually has done something positive for downtown, such as Coco Rubio, Harry Blackston or Bonnie Ruben.

RANT TO ROMAN Cibirka at Georgia Regents University for sending his employees into Atlanta during the storm of the century.

THE BEST WAY TO win a war is don’t start one and don’t get involved in one. Keep our money at home to raise Social Security for our seniors and the people who need help. We also need to pay the Chinese off as fast as we can.

A BIG RAVE TO the couple from That’s What Friends Are For Inc. who stopped and helped me catch my greyhounds that had gotten loose. Many thanks to you; I could not have done it without you.

WHAT SAY WE get GRU President Ricardo Azziz over to Charleston, S.C.? If South Carolina has a Board of Regents, he could put in his 2 cents and suggest the name for the merger between the College of Charleston and the South Carolina College of Medicine.

I’M NOT THAT upset about a special tree being destroyed when thousands remain without power and the roads aren’t cleared. Kudos to the power workers for all their hard work.

The Last Rant - On a Tree

Yes Augusta National does a lot of great things for Augusta.

My recommendation, take a few dozen cutting and clone the tree.

BTW:
I was 0-5 when IKE was the 34th president.
Since I'll never play the Augusta National,
and never been to the Augusta National.

I can understand why many would be more interested in the Serious Areas Damages,. Damages that affected real people, more than a tree at a Golf course, or any tree in the CSRA in Fact.

Brad Owens on the URBAN Redevelopment Authority

Why the personal Attack?
Given your knowledge it seems you are politically corrected and have a personal thing, or a political worry?

Personally I feel, If Brad continues his community watch dog political waste fighting career, his oversight will more than likely, hamper waste, that is all too common on such local area Pork Barrel Projects.

Regarding and Account to audit the Books.
YES, lets get one of the Big 5 accounting firms in here and go over the Spending & Deals for the last 10 years and have them POST their findings on a website for the World to see?

The cost of a BIG 5 audit would be a lot less than the $8M, that ARC plans to give away to GRU.

Urban Redevelopment Authority

A question for ranter #3 — is Coco Rubio, or Harry Blackston, or Bonnie Ruben an accountant?

CPA

Little Lamb, Bonnie Ruben is a CPA and would be a great choice for that authority. I am not aware of what training and education Barry Blackston and Coco Rubio have but both are successful businessmen downtown.

By the way, who appointed

By the way, who appointed Brad Owens to this Urban Redevelopment Authority anyway? Don't commissioners make those appointments? It was my understanding he was working and living outside of The USA anyway.

Wasn't The Doris Building

Wasn't The Doris Building recently sold? I am just curious what makes him a stakeholder downtown. Does he own a business there? Property? Didn't his bar close down there more than 7 years ago?

The Doris Building was recently sold but I don't know if he is still there, I'd say probably he still is.

Well that would be important

Well that would be important information to know. I can just think of many more people who have a lot more invested in downtown who could have served on this authority. Like I said, Bonnie Ruben would have been an excellent choice. Not only is she one of the biggest property owners downtown, but she is a CPA, and that skill set could come in handy when they are overseeing these millions in bonds for the municipal building renovation. She would watch every penny.

Maybe she is too busy or

Maybe she is too busy or doesn't want the job.

To do the job properly would require a major chunk of time and effort.

Does it?

These authorities rarely meet. Maybe once a month? But their decisions are very important concerning the future of downtown and how millions of dollars will be spent. What is Brad Owens' educational background? Does he own a business? property downtown? What qualifies him to serve on this board? The Marble Palace renovation is a multi-million dollar project. Are there not more qualified people who could have been appointed? And how do you know Bonnie Ruben was offered the post and refused?

Aren't some of Bonnie's buildings

In such bad shape she has gotten warnings from the fire marshall? Why does Brad need to be an accountant? He's just as qualified as the elected clowns that run the city. Probably more..

The Tree

Why does the ranter feel that the covering of the loss of the tree @ ANGC's 17th hole diminishes the attention paid to people who suffered more damage? As should be, the details and scope of the damages were covered far more than the tree. Something more at work here.

Push Bars??

Those bars aren't for pushing cars out of the road, those bars are for stopping pursuits by using the "PIT" technique to cause the offending vehicle to spin out... They are there to protect the LEO cars from damage while doing this..

CPA

I don't think that's needed, just common sense and the lack of a desire to have the taxpayers money benefit your business unfairly... Bonnie Ruben has long been known for substandard properties in the downtown area. I think Brad is a perfect choice. The DDA should be disbanded or remove everyone currently involved in it and replace them with fresh blood. They seem to only be building their own turf without benefitting downtown... I don't see or hear of them doing anything that DDA's in other cities are doing, especially the successful one!!!!!

Butterman, you know how Augusta works.

The public meetings are one per month.

The phone calls and visits and lunches and private meetings go on all the rest of the time.

Atlanta traffic mess

It is kinda funny that the north had the same pileups & stoppage on interstates just like we did...BUT, did you see that on tv---did you see comedians making fun of that...nahhh.....just funny to watch the good ole boys slip & slide....we learned a good lesson.

Deal & Reed work together & it gets things done...we can't blame them aymore than you can blame Deke for Augusta's storm mess.

Interstate Federal Highway Program

The Interstates are a Federal Highway Program primarily for moving military around the country in a direct quick route. So, doesn't this make Obama responsible for all the problems on the Atlanta Interstates? Oh, wait, he's made of Teflon!!!

Push Bars

Actually I think regular cars & trucks should have them too...just think, that shooter in Florida could have pushed the loud booming car out of his area & left the gun in the glovebox.

Come to think...he would have been much better off if he had just shot the radio in that car...just wonder how much time he would get for the radio.....anyway he will pay for the rest of his life......sad situation.

Its seem some people are worried about Brad oversight.

Otherwise why go into "PERSONAL ATTACK MODE".

On the surface it appears a Political/Spending group(s) is worried about Brad's uniquely Honest Ability to dig deep and uncover Political & Spending mischief.

So Far the attempted Smear Campaign has:
Expended resources to dig up specific personal data and published it,
Question his skills, play the local citizenship angle, Past business ventures, current employment and more.

This is just too well oiled to be a 1 or 2 loose cannons, this is organized political smear campaign, that reeks of a group guarding a Political Pork Barrel.

I have a feeling with Brad around and the likely accountability of $$$$ spending, he has some Political / Spenders worried about real oversight finally.

BRAD
We await you 1st report.

I have no sympathy for that

I have no sympathy for that shooter in Florida that shot that kid over loud music. I hope he rots in prison.

According to what's on the web, he was brutally abusive to his two wives and held a shotgun to one of the woman's head.

He was a murder waiting to happen.

He is nothing but scum.

All he had to do is walk away. I loathe that loud crap music, but it's certainly not worth provoking trouble over it.
