AIKEN -- All City of Aiken government offices will be closed for Wednesday, February 12,
2014. Municipal Court for City of Aiken has also been cancelled. There will be
no trash and yard debris service on Wednesday.

AUGUSTA -- University Hospital nonessential employees are not expected to report to work on Wednesday and should observe a late start on Thursday with their director's approval.
The following services will be closed Wednesday and observe a late start on Thursday. Call the individual service for more information or if you have an appointment:

  • Outpatient Surgery
  • Breast Health Center
  • Breast Health Imaging
  • Outpatient Infusion Center
  • Medical Oncology Associates Infusion at University and in Aiken
  • Mobile Mammography Unit
  • Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehab
  • All University Medical Group physician practices except Family Practice of North Augusta, which plans to open at 10 a.m. and run a skeleton crew and honor appointments for patients who want to come.
  • University Prompt Care Evans plans to be open 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Wednesday, and open at 10 a.m. on Thursday.

We will update our website, www.universityhealth.org with expectations for employees and patient closures. Employees should contact their directors regarding further work expectations.

4:55 p.m.

Due to the winter storm warnings, the following are closings and delays for Goodwill Industries of Middle Georgia and the CSRA:

  • All Helms College classes are CANCELLED for Wednesday, Feb. 12. The status of classes for Thursday, Feb. 13 will be announced Wednesday afternoon after an updated evaluation of conditions.
  • Employees of all Goodwill locations – retail stores, admin offices, Job Connections, donation centers, Helms College faculty and staff and hospitality – should plan to report for opening at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12 in all locations. Weather conditions will be re-evaluated for all areas early Wednesday, and any changes to these openings will be announced.
  • All truck-based donation locations will be CLOSED on Wednesday, Feb. 12, in all locations; all trucks will remain parked.

4:50 p.m.

AIKEN -- Due to the strong possibility of inclement weather, all nonessential Aiken County government facilities will be closedWednesday, February 12).

4:39 p.m.

EVANS -- Per the County Administrator, Columbia County Offices will be closed on Wednesday, February 12, 2014 due to the forecast for significant freezing rain and icy road conditions.

4:30 p.m.

AUGUSTA --  On Wednesday, February 12, East Georgia State College Swainsboro and Augusta campuses will be closed and all campus activities are cancelled.

AUGUSTA -- The Augusta Public Transit Department will be closed WEDNESDAY.   We will continue to monitor the weather conditions and announce any delays and/or closings for Thursday.

4:15 p.m.

All office locations for Center for Primary Care will be closed  Wednesday.

Georgia Military College Augusta campus classes will be canceled Wednesday, however, Tuesday night’s classes are NOT canceled.

All Georgia Bank & Trust and Southern Bank & Trust locations will be closed Wednesday, Feb. 12,  and will be open on Thursday from noon until 4  p.m.

4:04 p.m.

AUGUSTA -- all Augusta Richmond County offices will be closed on Wednesday, February 12, 2014. Public safety employees and departments responsible for responding to the current emergency conditions should report per their usual schedule.

3:54 p.m.

AUGUSTA -- All GRHealth adult and pediatric clinics will be closed Wednesday, Feb. 12.

 At this time, outpatient clinics will reopen as scheduled on Thursday, Feb. 13.  Patients should call the clinic on or after Thursday to reschedule their appointments.

3:38 p.m.

FORT GORDON -- The Dwight D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center has canceled all scheduled appointments and closed all clinics on Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2014 due to winter weather conditions.

 

DDEAMC will maintain all essential emergency services, inpatient care, scheduled surgeries and high risk OB care during this time. For questions about scheduling please contact the appointment line at 1-888-239-6066 or the Staff Duty at 706-787-5811.

 

 

3 p.m.

AUGUSTA -- Due to inclement weather, Georgia Regents University will close tonight at 9 p.m., and remain closed on Wednesday, Feb. 12. All classes and student activities on the Health Sciences, Summerville and Forest Hills campuses, including those at the Wellness Center, Student Health Clinic and Daycare Center on the Health Sciences campus, have been canceled.

All outpatient dental clinics will also be closed on Wednesday. However, residents working on inpatient rotations in the medical center are expected to report as scheduled.

A decision regarding university operations on Thursday, Feb. 13, will be communicated by 5 p.m. Wednesday.

 AUGUSTA -- Due to dangerous road conditions, please note the following changes in the Kroc Center schedule. Tuesday, Feb. 11  Normal hours for all facilities. Upward Leagues and Volleyball Leagues will carry on as usual tonight. See you at the Kroc Center!

  • Wednesday, Feb. 12  All facilities CLOSED.
  • Thursday, Feb. 13    KROC CENTER: Opening at 7:00am. All other facilities will have normal hours.

2:40 p.m.

AUGUSTA -- ALL Richmond County school board meetings and after school activities scheduled for today Feb. 11, have been canceled. This includes:  Board Committee Meeting @ 4:00 p.m., the Townhall Meeting @ 6:30 p.m. regarding rightsizing at Garrett Elementary School and Primetime.

NORTH AUGUSTA -- North Augusta Municipal Court has been cancelled for Wednesday, February 12th.  Those scheduled to appear will be notified of the new  court date.

 2:19 p.m.

FORT GORDON -- Fort Gordon will curtail operations for Wednesday, Feb. 12. ONLY mission essential personnel and those directed by their supervisors will report for work."

SRS -- Due to weather conditions that are projected to worsen, SRS will be closed on Wednesday, Feb. 12, to non-essential personnel.  At this time, a 2-hour reporting delay is also anticipated for Thursday, Feb. 13.

AIKEN -- Aiken Surgical Associates will be closed Wednesday. 

1:15 p.m.

Curtis Baptist School, Preschool and Daycare will be closed Wednesday. 

1:09 p.m.

AUGUSTA -- Westminster Schools of Augusta will be closed on Wednesday due to the expected winter weather conditions. The decision about a change to Thursday's schedule will be made no later than Wednesday afternoon. 

12:50  PM

AUGUSTA -- Episcopal Day School will be closed Wednesday, February 12, 2014.  Any announcements for Thursday will be announced on Wednesday.

12:45 p.m.

COLUMBIA -- According to the SC DOT, temperatures in District Seven , (Aiken, Allendale, Bamberg, Barnwell, Calhoun, Clarendon, Hampton, and Orangeburg Counties) are well above freezing.  

Rain is being reported in most counties.  Roads are being reported as normal and wet.  Crews and equipment are prepared to respond as the temperatures warrant.   

12:37 p.m.

EVANS -- (Bulletin from Columbia County) Temperatures are going to continue to fall today we will see the light cold rain for the rest of today.  Temperatures will go below freezing after midnight.  After midnight, expect freezing rain to begin with accumulations starting - and continuing on into Wednesday.  The temp will remain below freezing throughout the day – giving us a 100% chance of freezing rain all day Wednesday.  Total ice accumulations will be 1 inch or greater in some areas.  We will start to see some snow mixed in with the sleet on Thursday morning through around 11am, then all rain as temps start to rise.  This will be a significant ice event for us.

Below are the effects that we anticipate from this system – along with information citizens need to know in advance.  I cannot stress enough that you need to be prepared for this one. 

  • The Columbia County Health Department will be  closed on Wednesday, February 12, 2014. We will possibly also be closed on Thursday, February 13, 2014.  Our policy is to follow the Columbia County Board of Education with closings so we will monitor the school system regarding additional delays or closings.
  •  We are currently in coordination with the Augusta Chapter of the American Red Cross and are prepared to open a public shelter for Columbia County residents should power outages create a need for citizens to relocate.  Citizens in Columbia County can dial 3-1-1 or call (706) 868-3375 if you lose power tomorrow and need to go to the shelter.  The shelter location will be identified at the time we prepare to open it, just in case changes in the location are made between now and then.  Stay in touch with 3-1-1.  They will have information throughout this event.

NOON -- 

AIKEN -- Aiken County Public Schools will be closed on Wednesday, Feb. 12, due to inclement weather. The closing will include all Adult Education classes and after-school activities.

 Today, Tuesday, February 11, students will be dismissed at the normal time, but all after-school and evening events to include athletics, Adult Education classes and the Board of Education meeting have been canceled.

1145 a.m.

AUGUSTA -- Due to inclement weather, the Augusta Downtown Development Authority has postponed their monthly meeting on Thursday until Feb. 20.

11:40 a.m.

Due to the impending winter weather, Serenity Behavioral Health Systems will be implementing a 2-hour delay at all locations for both Wednesday and Thursday mornings. Please check our website, phone system and with your supervisor to get updates as decisions may change as more information is gathered. 

11:38 a.m.

AUGUSTA -- The annual State of Tourism luncheon scheduled for Wednesday has been canceled for the threat of winter weather, according to a statement released by the Augusta Convention and Visitors Bureau.

The event, hosted in conjunction with the Augusta Sports Council, had been postponed from Jan. 29 after the first round of wintry precipitation affected the area.

Tickets purchased for the luncheon will be fully refunded. For more information, please contact the Augusta Convention and Visitors Bureau at (706) 823 - 6600.

11:30 a.m.

LINCOLNTON -- Lincoln County schools will be closed Wednesday.

BARNWELL -- Barnwell County schools will be closed Wednesday and Thursday due to expected winter weather. Classes will resume Friday on what was supposed to be an in-service day. Monday is still a school holiday in observance of Presidents Day.

 11:28 a.m.

MARTINEZ -- Due to a forecast of icy weather that could cause dangerous travel conditions tonight through Thursday, Augusta Preparatory Day School will be closed on Wednesday.

Today's classes will continue as normally scheduled, but with Wednesday's closure and school's winter break already slated for this Thursday, it will not resume classes until Tuesday, Feb. 18.

11:17 a.m.

AUGUSTA -- – Richmond County Schools and departments will be closed Wednesday, Feb. 12 and Thursday, Feb. 13, 2014. They will determine by early afternoon on Thursday, Feb. 13th if schools will be in session on Friday, 

10:50 a.m.

EDGEFIELD -- Edgefield County schools will be closed Wednesday.

 10:15 a.m.

 EVANS -- Because of freezing rain expected to occur overnight, Columbia County School System schools and departments will be closed Wednesday, Feb. 12. Employees, including 12-month personnel, should not report to work.

Schools may be closed Thursday, as weather forecasts indicate continued severe weather through the early morning. However, the final decision regarding Thursday will be announced Wednesday.

All after-school activities are canceled when schools are closed.

 10 A.M.

MCCORMICK -- The McCormick County School District will dismiss at 11 a.m. today, Tuesday.

According to a notice on the school district’s Web site, schools will be closed Wednesday, Feb. 12.

Hey David.....are you working tomorrow? 321 they are closing my office so don't think I'll need to show up. But, if the lights go out at home....they'll probably be on there if I need to get warm. Just saying: I'm not accustomed to driving on icy roads so why would I risk my life or YOURS if I don't need to or have to. Please, be safe out there.
