WHY WOULD THE Richmond Board of Education come up with the idea of putting sixth- and 12th-graders together? Aren’t we setting up our children for failure? The law has damaged a lot of young men’s lives because of making bad decisions concerning their sexual behavior and are now on the sex offenders list. Why would you put 12-year-olds with 17- and possibly 18- and 19-year-olds in the same building? Somebody has bumped their heads.

IS NATHAN DEAL trying to make brownie points with blacks by taking blame for something Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed was responsible for but failed to do?

THE CHRONICLE GETS most right, but to support any “T-SPLOST” is wrong. That’s just another government ploy to get suckers to vote more taxes on themselves.

THIS IS A RAVE for Tiffany, who works in the floral department at Kroger on Wrightsboro Road. She is so polite, knowledgeable and always willing to give great advice on plant care.

MARION WILLIAMS’ quote: “They’ve done stepped into the big league, and for whoever did it there ought to be some consequences:” It appears that Commissioner Williams not only has delusions of grandeur, but also suffers from delusions of adequacy.

I AM NOT A regular, but can Sean Moores or someone please tell us what ColdBeerBoiled
Peanuts menus mean? Does he work at a food joint? But I do like the photos that are now being posted with the Whines or Raves. I say a rave for the photos!

WHAT A BORING Super Bowl that had been hyped for weeks on end. For sure Seattle is not that good and Denver is not that bad. But one thing that can’t be displayed on a scoreboard is CLASS – if possible, Denver would have been miles ahead.

OBAMA GOT HIMSELF put on TV talking to a national “prayer” breakfast. Isn’t it odd that he would talk for several minutes at a “prayer breakfast” but offer no prayer in all that time?

Original

I was heating up a bowl of homemade soup for supper tonight and reached into the cabinet to get some crackers. On the package it said this:

Breton
The Original Since 1982
New Improved Flavor

Excuse me, but how can something be "the original" and "new improved" at the same time? Can anyone explain Madison Avenue?

Atlanta Ice

Atlanta is going to have another ice storm on Monday night. Everyone will stay home from work and school on Tuesday, so the traffic will flow smoothly.

Then on Tuesday afternoon Nathan Deal and Kasim Reed will hold a joint news conference, hold hands, and declare that they have corrected all the problems from last month. No need for anyone to worry any more.

South Augusta

I'm hearing both Target and Kohl's might be coming South Augusta. The restaurant Cookout(Harrisburg & Martinez locations) is another possibility too. The businesses would already be joining a great lineup of new amenities near Peach Orchard, I-520, and Windsor Spring..

1. Chick Fil A(underway)
2. Dunkin Donuts(underway)
3. Five Guys
4. Hibbett Sports(open)
5. Firehouse Subs(underway)
6. Krispy Kreme

"IS NATHAN DEAL trying to make brownie points with blacks by taking blame for something Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed was responsible for but failed to do?"

Neither are responsible. The counterpart for Columbia County's Pam Tucker for the respective counties are where it starts. Reed isn't anyway accountable for the roads outside of Atlanta city limits. To boot, would you blame the governor for lack of preparation in Richmond or Columbia County in a storm? No? Then why would you blame him for Atlanta?

Williams

Has been, is, and will continue to be a joke, It is too bad people like him make enough noise to be part of the face of Augusta. How the movers and shakers insulate would be investors in the area from the likes of him, I will never know. It is sad that Augusta has enough like minded people to elect representatives like him. Pitiful.

Better Than Winter Olympics

For the ranter who was bored by the Super Bowl, are you enjoying watching team figure skating from Sochi? I bet you find it exciting when they are given a beautiful bouquet of flowers after their performances.

South Augusta I'm pleased

South Augusta

I'm pleased about Chick-fil-a, but seriously donuts and sub sandwiches? Can we get a nice steak house like Texas Roadhouse over here. Don't even mention Applebee's. Last time I ate there the service was terrible and the food not all that great.

When I started school I went

When I started school I went to a school that went from 1st to 12th grade... didn't have kindergarten then. But at that time prayer was allowed in school, corporal punishment was allowed, we said the Pledge of Allegiance every morning, either paid for our lunch (only meal served at school) or brought it from home. Bologna sandwiches, not refrigerated.

Maybe if we went back to the values of that time it wouldn't be such a huge problem today.

Word of Thanks to Dist 8 Comish

The Pot Holes,(mini-canyons) at the intersection of
Brown Road & Old Waynesboro Rd. has been repaired.

This time, thanks to some Commissioner Level Pressure we are told.

It seems someone (Wayne) actually reminded ARC DOT of the previous tingle poor jobs of just using a truck load of Gravel that quickly failed.

IF the ARC DOT did not do a skim coat paving job it should last a while.

Thanks Wayne.

Given the insanity of several Downtown Commissioners

May be it is time to have annual mental health checks on some our more weirder elected officials?

NO, those young men have damaged their OWN lives because they committed crimes by having sex with CHILDREN.

To ranter #8- Did you read

To ranter #8- Did you read the text of Obama's remarks, or did you rely on a blog site to tell you that he didn't pray?

"Giving all praise and honor to God, who brought us here this morning."

That was in his opening remarks. That's not a prayer?

Take the time to read the text, you might be pleasantly surprised.

JTF - it almost slipped my mind

A big Thank You to Ed Sullivan 50 years ago last night he introduced to the Beatles.

My Best liked song.
"Yesterday"
Yesterday, all my troubles seemed so far away
Now it looks as though they're here to stay
Oh, I believe in yesterday.....

I often wonder what they think of the changes in Rock and morality that their music influenced.

BTW: George Harrison was the best of the bunch.

nonoc, I would think they would say what in the world is this trash that the kids are listening too today and what is all this stupid gang culture about. It is not music, has no harmoney and is nothing more than bump and grind trash.

I appreciate your opinion, but George was not in Paul/John's class. They wrote all the music and lyrics. George had a nice career after the Beatles, but really, Paul might be the best of all time.

"Here comes the Sun" and "Something", both written by George are two of my favorites ( If you could possible narrow it down to favorites).

I loved the show last night...wow--they got it right.

IAD is so right...Reed/Deal can't stop the weather troubles in Atla--it is a stinking mad house when the weather is nice..throw in ice/snow & bingo..DISASTER TIME!!

BUT...we have the snow plows this time--I just saw a pic of them...now, if we can get the dang things moving!!

Actually, Jackson is dead. But, his estate presently owns them. Paul can regain them due to copyright laws in a few yrs.

"Don't even mention Applebee's. Last time I ate there the service was terrible and the food not all that great."

Not to mention the music and the customers are both too loud. I've eaten in Army mess halls with a better dining atmosphere...and better food. The southside Applebee's isn't a restaurant.....it's a bar that happens to serve food. The only reason it is still open as a restaurant is because there is nothing else here.

You want more restaurants on southside

Find a way to curb this mess...

About 8:20 p.m., two unknown black men entered the KFC restaurant near the intersection of Windsor Spring and Peach Orchard roads brandishing handguns and demanding money..

You won't see a Bonefish/Cheesecake Factory until this stops.

Southside Applebee's

One experience there, had my family and I canceling our order and leaving because the table behind us was using such loud profanity that we didn't want to hear and no one in the "restaurant" would do anything about it. We tried once more with the same result and left without ordering anything.
