Winter weather could return to the area as soon as Tuesday, but the National Weather Service says not to stock up on milk and bread just yet.

Meteorologist Tony Petrolito said there is a possibility of freezing rain late Tuesday and early Wednesday, but no winter weather watches have been issued for the area as of Sunday evening.

“We’re still uncertain on the CSRA,” Petrolito said. “Our confidence is still low.”

Two weather systems will affect the region starting Tuesday morning, Columbia County Emergency Operations Director Pam Tucker said in a statement Sunday.

The northern Midlands area of South Carolina will have the greatest chance of accumulating snow, while the central and southern Midlands, along with the northern part of the Augusta area, will have a greater potential for sleet, freezing rain and ice pellets.

Temperatures are expected to drop to near freezing Tuesday and Wednesday, which could also create icy roadways.

“There is some potential for an ice storm,” Petrolito said. “We’re keeping an eye on conditions.”

Check out WWW.Weather.gov/(enter zipcode)

It says we stand good odds of some freezing rain and snow Wednesday Night.

Wednesday Night - Freezing rain and sleet before 1am, then snow likely. Low around 30. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Thursday - A chance of snow and freezing drizzle before 9am.

BTW:
At least we got plenty of heads up and warning just like we did last time.

Do you think someone needs to warn Gov Deal and the fools in Atlanta this time?

Governor Deal wasn't the fool

Governor Deal wasn't the fool in Atlanta. It was the folks that went about their business as if nothing was headed their way. The last time I checked, people don't need the Governor's permission to stay home.

If anybody is heading north, Charlotte is supposed to get snow sometime tomorrow, and if the center of the storm passes over us, we could get up to 12". As in, a foot of snow.
