Comments from readers:

PRESIDENT OBAMA said that raising the minimum wage would not cost the government anything. Another bald-faced lie. All government contracts are tied to the federal minimum wage. I hope America can survive until 2016.

WHEN OBAMA proclaims “Where Congress isn’t acting, I’ll act on my own,” he is confessing he’s breaking the U.S. Constitution.

THE U.S. DEPARTMENT of Justice has 117,000 employees, and yet, justice seems to be disappearing. We’re paying to hurt ourselves.

THE VA HOSPITAL in Augusta is being investigated. The problem has lasted for at least five years. Obama has been in office for five years, and the buck is supposed to stop with him. Where is Congress?

NEWS KEEPS talking about the “recession’s end.” Look at the real world. The recession has not ended.

RAVE FOR GEORGIA Power Co. We had a power outage in our neighborhood Sunday night. There was a bucket truck there in 15 minutes, and our power was restored in less than an hour. Thanks for being willing to serve and for being good at what you do.

I HOPE YOU Democrats watched the Obama interview with Bill O’Reilly on Fox News. Obama did not answer a single question and had the gall to blame Fox News for all his and his administration’s problems. I hope this interview opened a lot of eyes to just how pathetic he really is.

DON’T KNOCK THE letter carriers. They are out there doing their jobs.

GEORGIA GOV. Nathan Deal takes the blame for gridlock. How about Deal taking blame for GRU?

DOES ANYTHING good happen in Richmond County? Why don’t you print some good news to cheer people up?

THE HARLEM police needs to be overhauled.

THIS IS A RANT to Kay Allen. In her position, she should know the tax laws. Ignorance is not an excuse. She needs to go. Gov. Nathan Deal will not get my vote if he doesn’t remove her.

FOOD STAMPS ARE not for people who have worked all their lives and paid their way. My sister at the age of 56 was diagnosed with breast cancer and applied and received for two months. Once they found out she had a car payment, she no longer was eligible.

Appropriate punishment?

Maybe stick a pipe down their throat like they do geese and force feed them until they explode?

I wish someone could just wave a magic wand and make evil people like this disappear.

Featherbed Letter Carriers

Know how the county water meter readers can now just ride around and get the numbers electronically while staying in their trucks? Maybe we should do that to featherbed the mail carriers since everything is going to email and UPS. Have them drive around the neighborhoods with a computer sending email to residents' computers. It will still give the neighborhood dogs something to bark at and chase.

Combine Paine with Laney

Augusta is looking for ways to consolidate schools. I have an idea. Since the city already pays millions to tiny private Paine College and it's on the list for more money from the SPLOST and Laney High School doesn’t have many students, just combine them. Add grades 13 – 16.

Lineman

A big "Thank YOU" to all lineman, whether you work for Ga. Power, SCE&G or the EMC's. These people go out when everyone else is hunkered down, leaving their families to go to work to restore your power. They work long, hard hours in rain, sleet and snow while you're reaching down to pull that blanket a little closer to your chin. They respond to the scene of accidents to remove live power lines so that the injured can be treated, to house fires to disconnect the power so that the firefighters can complete their jobs. They see and hear some of the worst that can happen to people and rarely hear, "Thank You". Quite often they are criticized, cussed and talked down to, but, no one steps up to do their job. So, the next time you stand next to a lineman at a store or restaurant or wherever you are, take a moment and say "Thank you for all you do!" Currently there are hundreds of lineman from this area up north restoring power, working 16 hour days, sleeping in less than ideal conditions and quite often eating cold sandwiches. These people are your friends, neighbors and fellow church members.....

It seems few read history around here. (1984 or world events)

Governments have named Agencies with misleading names for generations.

The War Dept. was changed to the Defense Dept. (but conducts more war than before)

The IRS = is now proven to be a Political revenge tool and nothing was done about it.

The EPA = has become a 3/4 Political revenge tool 1/4 misc.

The US Treasury = Has less than 1/3 of the Gold needed to back up the amount of US dollars in print and much less than that in the electronic transfer market. An we call that a Treasury???

The US Budget Office = do I have to say anything more than What Budget?

Like the Rant said above, it seems they are just names given to mislead the public in too many cases.

BTW:
What happen to the Media looking out for the Citizens?
Remember when the media was independent of the Political powers?

It seems the media is no longer the champion of truth.

Corgi, I've had a 55 in Samsung for about 4 years with no problems. I can recommend it. You'll probably find better prices at HH Gregg or Best Buy. I recommend shopping around a little. Most will match a lower price so do some research or have someone you can call with the make and model number to search prices to see if you are getting a good price.

Our HH Gregg here totally

Our HH Gregg here totally stinks- we went there when we were going to purchase a refrigerator, the salesperson didn't know her products and their customer service was abominable.

I'm not a big fan of our Best Buy, either, they play music so blaringly loud over the PA system that you have to scream in order to be heard.

But I may just bite the bullet and take a look.

For all the blondes--thanks Jen for this:)

As a trucker stops at a red light, a blonde catches up. She jumps out of her car, runs up to his truck, and knocks on the door. The trucker lowers the window, and she says "Hi, my name is Heather and you're losing some of your load."
The trucker ignores her and proceeds down the street. When the truck stops for another red light, the girl catches up again. She jumps out of her car, runs up and knocks on the door. Again, the trucker lowers the window. As if they've never spoken, the blonde says brightly, "Hi my name is Heather, and you are losing some of your load!"
Shaking his head, the trucker ignores her again and continues down the street. At the third red light, the same thing happens again. All out of breath, the blonde gets out of her car, runs up, knocks on the truck door. The trucker lowers the window. Again she says "Hi, my name is Heather, and you are losing some of your load!"
When the light turns green the trucker revs up and races to the next light. When he stops this time, he hurriedly gets out of the truck, and runs back to the blonde's car. He knocks on her window, and as she lowers it, he says "Hi, my name is Kevin, it's Winter in Michigan and I'm driving the SALT TRUCK!"

Should be interesting..

Augusta, GA -
Augusta will be featured in an episode of the TV show "Cops" this weekend.

The episode will feature one segment from Augusta.

A promo for the episode shows a Richmond County Sheriff's Office deputy chasing after a suspect and threatening to tase him.

Other segments from the Garden City will air over the next several weeks.

Some people fear the TV show will make Augusta look bad, but a Richmond County Sheriff's Office spokesperson says it's all about transparency.

"I don't think it makes Augusta look bad in any way, shape, or form. Crime occurs everywhere. What it does is it allows the Sheriff's Office to show how well they respond to crime that happens in the area, and some of the proactive things they do like measures to ensure that crime doesn't happen in our area," says Lieutenant Lewis Blanchard.

The episode is titled "Wrong Place, Wrong Time" and airs Saturday night at 8:00 p.m. on Spike TV.

At least Wayne is trying....new growth coming.

“We’ve got a lot to look forward to, and it’s a chance in a lifetime opportunity that we have,” said District 8 Commissioner Wayne Guilfoyle. “If we don’t prepare for it and be proactive instead of reactive, we’re going to lose. We’re going to fall behind.”

"WHEN OBAMA proclaims “Where Congress isn’t acting"

Half of Congress, the House, has been acting. They have passed all kinds of legislation....jobs bills, economic bills, bills asking to delay Obamacare...up to the Democrat controlled Senate but the Democrats won't act. The problem is not that the House is not acting...the problem is that they just aren't acting like Himself the Big Government Communist wants them to act....which is EXACTLY what we elected them to do.

I'm surprised COPS found enough juicy stuff to use in Augusta. The majority of their segments come from major cities.

"Knock," the letter carriers? ERRRR,
Unpublished

I have to repeatedly, yes, REPEATEDLY ask that a certain letter carrier close my mailbox securely! Hogwash, "thry're doing their jobs!" ONE of the reasons a stamp is costing nearly fifty cents! PATHETIC service from the USPS!
