Rain, sleet mix falls on metro Augusta

  • Follow Metro

A mixture of rain and sleet fell on many parts of metro Augusta late Thursday.

The light band of precipitation moved into the area about 9 p.m. and lasted for about an hour, said Tony Petrolito, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service.

Temperatures hovered between the low- and mid- 40s, too high for any accumulation on roads, he said.

Petrolito said most areas of Augusta and its surrounding counties saw some sleet, although it was light and spotty.
