WHERE: Central Avenue at Troupe Street

WHAT: Trees planted in the median of Central Avenue had branches that hung low in front of a traffic signal, making it difficult for approaching drivers to see the lights.

WHO’S RESPONSIBLE: Augusta-Richmond County Traffic Engineering

ACTION PROMISED: Mike Edwards, the traffic signal and tree section operations and maintenance superintendent, said Friday morning he would send a crew out to address the problem immediately. Within four hours, county employees were at the intersection cutting the low-hanging branches.
