A logging truck collided with a Richmond County school bus dropping off students from McBean Elementary School in Hephzibah on Thursday, but no one was injured.

About 3 p.m., bus number 219 stopped at Mike Padgett Highway and Union Cemetery Road and was preparing to let children off when the tractor-trailer struck the back of the bus, said Richmond County Schools Transportation Director Jimmie Wiley.

Wiley said there were 23 students on the bus, who were later released to their parents. Paramedics arrived at the scene and checked out everyone involved in the collision before they were sent home, he said.

Wiley said he was unaware of any charges against the driver of the tractor-trailer.
