Rants & Raves

Comments from readers:

A BIG RANT against those people who ran their sprinklers during the very cold spell. Do they realize that they caused problems for pedestrians who were trying to navigate sidewalks and driveways? Please have a little consideration for others!

BIG RAVE FOR THE carrier named Josh that delivers the paper in Ivy Falls. GREAT JOB!

IF KAY ALLEN and her husband had a shred of common sense, they would both resign from their offices.

I BET IF THE almighty Dawgs named a new head football coach it would be on the front page of this paper. Georgia Southern gets on page 7 with the hiring of its new coach. That is just wrong and blatantly biased. Very unprofessional and highly disrespectful to the many Eagle fans in this area.

RAVES TO THE Georgia Southern Eagles for having a high graduation rate as part of the requirements for the new head coach. Unlike the billionaires in Athens, the Eagles don’t get the five star recruits who only come to college to wait on the NFL. The Eagles get recruits who come to college to get an education. Isn’t that the way it is supposed to work?

THE VA IS A government facility, no? Then we need that separation from religion. If any group claims they are Christian but must be able to sing to the masses at their will, then they are not real Christians. They can’t take care of their own in their own churches so they expect to preach, if only by Christmas songs, in public and claim that right. How would they like it if a group were to sing songs about other religions anywhere they liked? That’s why you HAVE to regulate religious groups to certain areas and not force people to hear constant religious stuff of ANY religion.

INSTEAD OF WASTING stupid time trying to impeach our president and trying to control what he says to foreign countries, our other so-called leaders of the Republican ilk need to get cracking on being productive before being turned out of office this year! You are not part of any solution with your sick, often cruel yapping! You are all letting too much monies go out unchecked with lending to companies or barking too shrilly about even any little tax increase at all for the upper income. Or not caring that monies are placed and stored in Cayman Islands and other non-US territories just to not pay any taxes on them.

Harley; 1/19 PM: No, it

Harley; 1/19 PM: No, it wasn't. The claim was this.... "Their mama's aren't liberal, just ignorant." You didn't say anything about "social issues," you said "aren't liberal." If you had specified "social issues" we wouldn't have had this discussion.

The original post by me: "Their mama's aren't liberal, just ignorant."

The follow-up question from Harley: "Their mama's aren't liberal, just ignorant."
You know this, how?

My response: "Because studies show that African Americans are socially more conservative."

I further linked a poll to back it up.

Draw your own conclusions.

IAD...

You just don't stop, do you?

This must be very important to you.

You say they "aren't liberal." (you didn't say "socially liberal")

I agreed they are not "socially liberal" on some issues, but explained why they are still "liberal," despite their positions on one or more social issues.

I point out that 95%+ of them voted for Obama for President and that being "liberal" or "conservative" is mainly one's view on big government vs. small government.

Summary....I agree with you that they may not be "socially liberal," but point out that doesn't prove they are "not liberal."

You refuse to take "yes" for an answer.

Tell you what....you are Totally RIGHT. YOU WIN! I give up.

The mothers of most young black males who are perpetrators of attacks on white/Jewish old folks are Conservatives, or Moderates. They are NOT liberals.

Don't let anybody tell you anything different.

Fact check

"Eagles don’t get the five star recruits who only come to college to wait on the NFL. The Eagles get recruits who come to college to get an education. Isn’t that the way it is supposed to work?"
Perhaps this ranter should have checked out the graduation rate of football players at GSU.

I don't know about graduation

I don't know about graduation rates, but the Chronicle does not give GA So enough coverage. When they went FBS, the Chronicle didn't send anyone to cover the story. Anyway, the NFC championship has 2 minutes to go. I may comment after the game even if I don't live in Seattle.

AC's coverage is another topic. The rant was about grad rates. UGA's is 59%. GSU was 17%.

JTF, I loved the little

JTF, I loved the little interview with Richard Sherman, the defensive back, who broke up the pass in the end zone. Heh, heh, heh. And they talk about SEC players and former players. Sherman played at Stanford.

The Race thats all about Race

This is Dr. Martin Luther King remembrance week and these are the months prior to the 2014 mid term elections.

So Racial Politics will once again will rear its ugly face this year, jumping into high gear.

The Race Baiters will be scouring the land and fields for any opportunity beat the drum to gather and whip the voters into a frenzy of support and passion.

While the two do not have anything to to do with the other, none the less there will be those that pervert the name of Dr. King for their own self serving purposes.

The very type of political abuse I speak of has already started out this week by our own President who was elected to bring this country together, but has succumb to racial politics to cover mistakes and yes some failures.

eg. The President Obama interview which will the undertone of the 2014 political race battle, also will also tarnish the reason for Dr. King day. His carefully timed interview over the weekend is but one example: “There’s no doubt that there’s some folks who just really dislike me because they don’t like the idea of a black president..., ” Obama said . He then went on to say “Now, the flip side of it is there are some black folks and maybe some white folks who really like me and give me the benefit of the doubt precisely because I’m a black president,” Obama.

A careful read of that quote speak reams of Racial innuendo politics. Another example is his "Playing Black" for votes and support.

If we must be true to the facts about racial heritage, that he himself decided to bring up.

President Obama is not a Black President, he is mixed race. He not even the 1st mixed race elected President either according to many historians. He is part white, part Arab, part black. YES, He is in fact less Black, than he is White. A major US Liberal Magazine published this glossed over fact 7 years ago.

Now with an opening Political racial shot across the bow, every week as we run up to the 2014 elections. Elections, that could put American back on a even keel, working for and not against America. Will we see a major story, blown out of proportion of any isolated incident? Will we see Headlines screaming RACIAL DISCRIMINATION was the cause?

But this is nothing new, as we have seen Race politics applied to each election the last 20+ years.

Yes, we will be subjected to the Race Card Pimps, those that line their pockets cash pimping Race.

While they preach HATE , they are in as much trying to convince us that the Great Dr. King accomplished nothing, died for nothing, and America is just as bad off as it was back in 1960, 54 years ago. Having lived in that era, I can honestly say 2014 is NOTHING like 1960.

However, instead of flowing with the drug of HATE and blindly following those that profit from perpetuating Racial strife, let us remember at least today, what Dr. King has accomplished for all of America.

WHAT IS IMPORTANT?
Remember today is not about politics.
Today is a day about what Dr. King accomplished, not just Black Americans, but for all of America.

It is a day remembrance of the great things Dr. King has done to bring America TOGETHER. It should not be allowed to be pervert and used to hammer a wedge between Americans and divide us again.

Unfortunately, the stats don't support this claim. The University of Georgia's football team has a graduation rate of 79 percent, with an overall student grad rate of 83 percent. Georgia Southern's most recent four-year grad rate is just 23 percent overall. The football grad rate wasn't readily available, but is unlikely to be higher than the overall rate.

Alternative TV

I have fed fed up with rising prices, poor customer service and the increasingly frequent blackouts over channel fee disputes.
I still have Basic Coma-cast with Internet, but have been dibbling in Alternative Video sources for over a year now.

We use ROKU, RabbitTV, and various Internet feeds.

But I guess Coma-Cast figured out this was were more users were headed and decided to cap Internet usage. So towards the end of the month and between Internet Usage and Internet TV/Movies We are starting to use bandwidths of about 180+/- a month.

With the demise of Internet Net Neutrality Rules we may even see greater fee increases, traffic caps and additional fee imposed to across ISP's lines.

But if its on the Internet somewhere you can find it.

Graduation Rates

Harley makes a good point up above. A school that makes graduation rate a top priority will be inclined to lower educational standards such that their students can pass the classes.

I've often said in this forum that if you do not have at least one failing grade on every test given, then your test was too easy. Of course, that applies only to primary, secondary, and college freshman classes. After the freshman year, hopefully the college has weeded out those who don't belong there.

Thank you.

Dr. King accomplished GREAT THINGS.
An it ticks me off to no end see and hear Race Pimps and Politicians abusing his teachings. Each trying to associate their names and faces with his just cause, just to make $$$$$, gain some fame or solidify votes.

Today Should be ONLY About Dr. King.
I'll call out anyone, local commissioners running for reelection, trying use, slip in an agenda, or hitchhike on Dr. Kings name.

BTW:
I understand we already have 1 maybe 2 local politicians doing just that.

Could big malls be a thing of the past?

In the AJC today..

Retail experts say hat 1/3 of Atlanta's 17 malls are thriving...while another third are struggling...shopping is a huge draw for metro Atl bringing in about 12 billion to the hospitality industry...the malls that are striving are in the affluent area...could it be that the internet shopping is making a dent in this.

The Ship is sinking and the DNC is searching for a lifeboat.

In what crazy world does someone believe that the DNC stands to win MORE SEATS this year?

We have DNC politicians running against Obamacare, hiding they are DNC, putting up signs they are Conservatives, avoid all the Panic Buttons that the Radicalize DNC now stands for or is associated with.

Regarding Wealth in Politics
According to the Center for Responsive Politics 47 percent of congressional representatives are millionaires.

In the current term, Republicans have 110 millionaires in the House of Representatives compared with 73 Democrats.

In the Senate, Democratic millionaires outnumber Republicans 37-30.

Note: Republicans hold a majority in the House, while Democrats control the Senate.

BTW:
All store $$$ off shore and in other countries just in case?
Even OBAMA has $$$ invested in stocks where those companies are OFF-Shore and keep their assets overseas to avoid DOUBLE taxation.

"INSTEAD OF WASTING stupid

"INSTEAD OF WASTING stupid time trying to impeach our president"

Nobody has tried to impeach Obama. Heck, keeping him around is the best thing that ever happened because every day he proves that the Republicans were 100% right. No jobs, crawling economy, worst labor participation rate since Jimmy Carter, totally disastrous foreign policy, and.....ta-da.....Obamacare. We want people to get a GOOD dose of what it feels like when you elect an anti-American, anti-Constitution, anti-free enterprise, welfare expanding, BORROW and spend, Communist Democrat.

The "Brides/Bouquets" Show?

The Bride/Bouquets Show is a half day event at the TEE Center that will bring in $17 billion in spending, $5 billion in taxes and fill up every hotel room between Thomson and Aiken. Extra direct flights from New York, Chicago and Houston have been added by the airport. The reason most give for attending the event is to see the Riverwalk at night and experience downtown Augusta where the corporate headquarters of Sprint Foods will soon locate above a minimart.
