The Augusta Chronicle’s Empty Stocking Fund raised $100,995.27 this holiday season, helping almost a thousand families, caregivers and children across the region have a better Christmas.

The effort continued the newspaper’s 83-year-old tradition of helping those struggling through economic challenges.

The final collection total surpassed last year’s giving by more than $7,000. Over the past decade the fund has raised more than $1 million.
