I AM A NATIVE Augustan and am here to say that we have the dumbest drivers in the nation in Richmond County. I have driven in huge cities all over this country and I have come across aggressive driving styles, but nothing compares to the utterly stupid and selfish people behind the wheel in our city. Stoplights are mere suggestions. Riding someone’s bumper doing 50 mph seems to be the norm. Blinkers are unused devices. It’s a culture of “I’m going to do what I want, when I want” mentality. Heaven help us all.

I DON’T UNDERSTAND why Richmond County would risk the safety of their teachers and staffers if it was important enough to delay the start of the buses.

THERE WERE YEARS when there was active promotion of the making of free state IDs for the purpose of voter photo IDs, etc. What happened to that program? Isn’t it still around? If so, then I don’t see what all the fuss is with proving who you are to vote when you have to prove your income to get assistance with heat, foods, etc.

I WAS APPALLED that the Veterans Affairs hospital would not let a group of carolers sing Christmas carols to their patients. What right do they have to stop anyone from coming to sing and show love and care at this time of the year? Wouldn’t these joyful young children bring great delight to the patients, so many of whom have heard these carols sung all their lives?

RANT TO THOSE who whined and complained about problems caused by the extreme cold and the minor inconveniences. There were many outlets to handle any immediate problems. Rave to those who were smart enough to understand that the extreme weather was an act of God and that we all just have to deal with it. I loved the news stories where people worked together to get through the problems. Neighbors helping neighbors is a great thing! People are good!

THERE’S CONCERT attire, and then there are the outfits that some of the women wear to shows in Augusta, like the R. Kelly concert. Thanks, Spotted, for the laughs!

PRESIDENT OBAMA wants to extend unemployment but cut our military pension, pay and benefits. This sounds like a great way to treat the real heroes and reward people who have been on the gift line for almost two years.

I WOULD LIKE TO know who says we can’t buy 40-watt and 60-watt light bulbs. Is there anything we can do about this?

The audience at the R. Kelly show was probably undressing getting ready for bed since Kelly didn’t show up until 11:30.

There are 2 sides to the story of Obama

Here is what the Liberals have presented:

Obama's top 50 accomplishments.
http://www.washingtonmonthly.com/magazine/march_april_2012/features/obam...

Yes some are true, eg OBL is dead, he give away $$$$.
Some are Elastic Man Stretches of the facts.

Some facts are so twisted they are saying the opposite of the truth. eg Improved America’s Image Abroad....

Some facts are glossed over to hide the repercussions they caused.

Some are Page filler to get the number up to 50.

Some are Double Speak eg Military Build-down.

#41 had me laughing.

But None the Less, this is what the Liberals feed the Low Information Voter at every meal.

See if you can read them and pick out the lies, 1/2 lies and Whole truths.

Franklin McCain, one of the original Greensboro Four, died last week. He was one of the black men that sat at the Woolworth lunch counter in 1960, it was an important part of American history.

I am very surprised that the AC didn't mention this.

But for all of you Jesse fans, he'll be at the funeral.

BREAKING NEWS: GOP kills bill on unemployment benefits.

What just happened is a travesty. And it's going to do irreparable damage to millions of lives and the economy. Republicans voted against a bill that would have reinstated long- term unemployment benefits for 1,3 millions Americans - including MILITARY VETERANS - even after Democrats agreed to offset the costs to meet Republican demands. It's almost as if Republicans want to sabotage the economy and don't care if they lose control of the House in this November's election. Wow!

A quote from Marcus Cicero on
Unpublished

A quote from Marcus Cicero on the Roman senate floor centuries ago. It could be repeated today about the traitor in the White House now.

“A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear.”

Impeach Obama, he is a terrorist to our freedoms.

Economics 101

BabyBoy, let's do some Economics 101. Giving unemployment compensation for years does not help the economy. It creates a class of people living off of unemployment and other government handouts. Labor is not exempt from economic cycles that also affect prices. When wages get to be too high, there has to be a reset point to get things under control.

Economics missing

Lets all remember that liberals do not have a clue about what makes our economy tick...the unemployment benefit comments above are ridiculous and just plain wrong. Cut off the benefits and people will find work, but give them a free check with no strings attached and they get lazy. Please pick up an economics 101 book and read a few chapters.

You can get bounced off of Marta now...

Since MARTA’s new code of conduct went into effect Nov. 9, some 500 passengers have been suspended from riding the transit system for failing to mind their manners.

And if they need more evidence that shenanigans like smoking, listening to loud music or harassing other riders won’t be tolerated, the transit system’s patrons could soon get it.

MARTA fare evaders beware
MARTA officials want state lawmakers to pass legislation allowing them levy a fine in cases where that is more appropriate than banishing people from riding. So far, the majority of offenses for which passengers were suspended were fare evasion, smoking and listening to loud music.

Control Of The Subways

Control of the subways was a big part of New York's implementation of the "Broken Glass Theory." They wanted to create a lawful society where those jumping over the turnstile gates were arrested. The theory is if you ignore small law breaking, you encourage bigger crimes. Good for Atlanta and Marta.

Okay, let me explain it to you. It actually was not important to “delay the start of the buses,” but the school system bureaucrats were trying to send a message that they are empathetic to school children having to stand around in the cold waiting for their bus. Of course, the school system bureaucrats don't have a clue, because school children no longer stand outside waiting for their school bus. Instead, they sit on the sofa in their house where it's comfortable. Only when the school bus shows up and stops outside their home do they stand up, put on their coat, sling their book bag over their shoulder, and slowly amble up to the street to get on the bus.

Gone are the days of the designated bus stop. Children today are coddled with curbside bus pickup.

Now, as far as the teachers and staffers, were they required to stand outside in the cold waiting for a school bus? No. Therefore, there was no good reason for them to report to work late. Now, get back to work and push that broom.

DITTO

Its is time for America to get up off our ____'s and go to work. Despite some leaders.

Maybe the Fed's could use the Former Extended UEI $$$$, to make some Shovel Ready jobs that would improve the country or states infrastructure.

Like every generation before this, including mine, and Granpa's.
After the Federal Government winds down a War on _______ (insert a name) we have a major recession, massive unemployment and a tanking economy.

It is who is in charge that makes the difference of how long that recession lasts and how we recover.

History has shown Democrats to be poor economical recovery leaders. Their basic political direction is not conducive of economics / business which create jobs. The Democrat agenda has become a Giving/Coddling cycle, not a, Get off our ____'s and do something.

eg.... Instead demanding Minimum wage increases and creating a new round if Wage Inflation and adding new costs to basics.
Why not just exempt Min. Wage workers making less than <$$$ week from Federal taxes withholding taxes?

But the Fed would never go for this.
Why not? it is simple, it would teach entry level voters how much Federal Taxes impact their living standard.

Broken Window

RM makes a good argument about reining in bad behavior of subway (and bus) riders. But lawmakers should tread carefully when giving law enforcement powers to subway police. If you were playing your I-phone louder than the person next to you liked, and the person next to you complained to the subway policeman, and the subway policeman insisted you get off at the next stop, what would you do?

If that subway policeman gave you a ticket as you exited the subway, and the ticket said that you owe a fine to MARTA of $100 for playing your I-phone too loud, what would you do? Pay the fine, or ignore it?

Does the subway policeman have the legal authority to make you give him your name, address, phone number, social security number, birthdate, etc.? I think not.

If the Georgia General Assembly gives full police power to subway police, things could get nasty.

Not everybody does that. I've been on unemployment in my lifetime, it helped me out until I found a job. I wasn't "lazy".

There will always be people that want to work. Like me. Like the vast majority of Americans.

And there will always be people that don't want to.

There now is a perception that "everybody" freeloads, "everybody" has an entitlement mentality, that "everybody" is lazy and just wants to collect benefits.

And that just isn't true.

But there aren't enough jobs to go around right now, but don't try explaining the truth to some people. That same person needs to read an economics 101 book himself, the part about supply and demand. About recessions. About economic cycles. About a surplus of workers. I guess he skipped those parts.

SIB4 - MARTA

A short story happened back some time in 1997-8.
I was just returning from a Business trip and caught the luck of the draw.

Being on MARTA after a double downtown game.
We had just stopped and loaded up at 5 Points. Our MARTA car was packed with Braves fans and some punk got on with a Shoulder Boom Box blaring raunchy RAP. The fathers with their families ask the guy to please switch off the offensive sound, the punk refused. At the next station several dad stood up and move to exit the door in unison. The punk minus a boombox was physically pushed out by a wall of large dads heading for the door together. There was many a cheer that night.

The, now turned off Boom Box, was escorted off the train at a station further down (?Lindbergh) Where a Marta cop was waiting and asked what was going on and the group of dads was honest about the situation. The cop said he'd return the Boom Box to the owner, as he kicked the boom box along the concrete platform.

More and more cheers erupted each time the Marta cop helped the Boom Box along.

What To Do If You Lose Your Unemployment Benefits...

....after drawing them for five years already.

Maybe it's time for you to actually find a job. Jobs are plentiful, though "dream jobs" may be a little scarce.

Why are really good jobs scarce? Because democrats have done their damnedest to make sure they are and that they remain so. The Obama Administration have attacked job creators at every opportunity and have gone to war with all industries (aside from cronies in the alternative energy arena) trying to either marginalize them, or completely shut them down. They are at "war" with the coal industry, the timber industry, the oil industry, and the natural gas industry just to name a few.

The Obama Administration has punished American Industry by maintaining the highest corporate income tax in the entire world. The Administration is using Obamacare as a vehicle to further punish industry and to inhibit new start-up businesses as well as the growth of existing industries.

None of this is accidental. We are watching a planned, coordinated, purposeful attack on America by people who want to see her diminished, or destroyed. You may not believe that, but you should take a close look at what's happening and ask yourself if it's really just an accident.

But for those poor souls who are true victims of this assault on America, there are still things they can do to help themselves. The first thing is VOTE. When November rolls around, remember who has purposefully caused this mess. Vote them out.

Some other ideas....Take a job that isn't a "dream job." Swallow a little pride and take a job that pays, even if it doesn't pay a lot and even if it is "beneath" you. Learn new skills. Move to where the jobs are. Right now the upper mid-west is the place to be. Jobs are booming. It's like a gold rush. Follow the money.

If nothing else works and you MUST rely on the government, there are plenty of programs around. Plenty of people are using these programs get themselves through tough times, not even to mention to enrich themselves and avoid actually working for a living. Here's a partial list...
