I AM A NATIVE Augustan and am here to say that we have the dumbest drivers in the nation in Richmond County. I have driven in huge cities all over this country and I have come across aggressive driving styles, but nothing compares to the utterly stupid and selfish people behind the wheel in our city. Stoplights are mere suggestions. Riding someone’s bumper doing 50 mph seems to be the norm. Blinkers are unused devices. It’s a culture of “I’m going to do what I want, when I want” mentality. Heaven help us all.
I DON’T UNDERSTAND why Richmond County would risk the safety of their teachers and staffers if it was important enough to delay the start of the buses.
THERE WERE YEARS when there was active promotion of the making of free state IDs for the purpose of voter photo IDs, etc. What happened to that program? Isn’t it still around? If so, then I don’t see what all the fuss is with proving who you are to vote when you have to prove your income to get assistance with heat, foods, etc.
I WAS APPALLED that the Veterans Affairs hospital would not let a group of carolers sing Christmas carols to their patients. What right do they have to stop anyone from coming to sing and show love and care at this time of the year? Wouldn’t these joyful young children bring great delight to the patients, so many of whom have heard these carols sung all their lives?
RANT TO THOSE who whined and complained about problems caused by the extreme cold and the minor inconveniences. There were many outlets to handle any immediate problems. Rave to those who were smart enough to understand that the extreme weather was an act of God and that we all just have to deal with it. I loved the news stories where people worked together to get through the problems. Neighbors helping neighbors is a great thing! People are good!
THERE’S CONCERT attire, and then there are the outfits that some of the women wear to shows in Augusta, like the R. Kelly concert. Thanks, Spotted, for the laughs!
PRESIDENT OBAMA wants to extend unemployment but cut our military pension, pay and benefits. This sounds like a great way to treat the real heroes and reward people who have been on the gift line for almost two years.
I WOULD LIKE TO know who says we can’t buy 40-watt and 60-watt light bulbs. Is there anything we can do about this?
