High water levels at Thurmond Lake prompted the Army Corps of Engineers to increase water releases at Thurmond Dam, causing waters downstream to rise, according to the Augusta-Richmond County Emergency Management Office.

The boat ramp is inaccessible, but Lock and Dam Park remains open.

Thurmond Lake was 332.78 feet above sea level Thursday. Normal water level for this time of year is 326 feet.
