Girl Scout cookie sales are going high-tech in parts of South Carolina.

A new mobile app for the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch will help Girl Scouts of the South Carolina-Mountains to Midlands troops, which includes Aiken and Edgefield counties, keep track of cookie orders when they begin Jan. 10.

The app – tabbed COCOmobile – lets scouts take orders, e-mail or text order confirmations to customers, track their progress and get cookie information, according to a news release from the Mountains to Midlands council that includes 22 counties in central and western South Carolina.

In South Carolina, door-to-door sales continue until March 17. Customers can buy directly from scouts on weekends from Feb. 21 to March 17.

Cookie season for Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia, which includes Richmond County, begins Friday, according to spokeswoman Jacki Gaytan. The first deliveries will be the week of Feb. 7, and orders continue until March 9. Booth sales begin Feb. 14.

The treats will cost more this year in Georgia. The price for a box of cookies rose 50 cents to $4 dollars, Gaytan said.

South Carolina troops introduced a new cookie variety. The Cranberry Citrus Crisps are a whole grain cookie.

The Girl Scout Cookie Program began in 1917 when scouts began selling home-made cookies to raise money for their troops and activities. All proceeds from sales stay with local councils and troops, with each council determining local retail price and the percent of revenue earned by troops.

Girl Scout cookies are on

Girl Scout cookies are on their way? The first day of the New Year hasn't passed and I've already broken the only resolution I made with myself - no more snacks. There's always 2015!

Girl Scout cookies coming is

Girl Scout cookies coming is good news. Let us just hope liberals don't decide they do not like them for some reason, they would cry and moan until they got them banned.
