Registration begins today for 2014 public tours of Savannah River Site.

Two driving tours will be held each month – except in November and December, when one tour is offered.

Each tour accommodates about 50 people, and reservation spaces typically fill quickly. Seats, which are filled on a first-come, first-served basis, are limited to two people per reservation.

Tours begin at the Aiken County Applied Research Center off U.S. Highway 278 near New Ellenton. The free tours begin at 12:30 p.m. and end about 4:30 p.m.

Participants must be 18 or older and U.S. citizens. To register, visit srs.gov/general/tour/public.htm or call (803) 952-8994.

The 2014 public tour dates are:

Jan. 16 and 28; Feb. 13 and 25; March 11 and 25; April 15 and 22; May 6 and 15; June 3 and 17; July 8 and 24; Aug. 5 and 21; Sept. 9 and 18; Oct. 7 and 23; Nov. 11; and Dec. 9.
