Comments from readers:

A RANT TO the Augusta VA Hospital for not allowing the school group to sing Christmas Carols for the recovering veterans because someone would find it offensive. Well, I find it offensive and so does my husband who is a World War II veteran. Both our neighbors who are also veterans find it offensive. We live in the “land of the free and the home of the brave,” but the brave are not free to listen to Christmas carols. How sad that as Americans we are no longer free. What happened to our rights?

SO SAD TO HEAR that the coupon lady’s column will be cut.

ALL PASTORS should be able to be political in their churches. All churches should be taxed.

I DON’T WANT you to quit publishing the Coupon Lady’s articles! This is the kind of stuff people need to help them in these hard economic times. I think you should keep her on permanently. If you want to change anything ask her to broaden her articles to something other than just using coupons to save money on groceries, like how to save on eating out and buying things in the mall and online. I know more people would love to know things like this.

JUST READ THE story about Charles Walker’s release from prison in The Chronicle. Right in the middle of the article was a quote from Bill Fennoy stating the he didn’t think Walker had done anything wrong. And he’s an Augusta commissioner? Does the city need to be worried about Fennoy since he must not know right from wrong?

SO, VA HOSPITAL man Brian Rothwell calls stopping Christians from singing their carols at the VA “respect for every faith…” Clearly, this is DISrespect for Christianity. This man is speaking the same weird lingo that spews out of Washington.

THANKS TO Chambliss and Isakson for throwing military retirees and veterans under the bus. Old RINOs doing what they do best. Watching out for themselves instead of the people that put them in office.

WHY WOULD YOU cancel something that benefits the public? Oh wait, this is The Chronicle and you are only concerned with your “NUMBERS”! Your numbers have been wrong for years. Your subscriptions are down because of the service your customers get ... because the price keeps increasing and because you keep eliminating articles that MAKE SENSE!

CBBP posted:

Maybe you didn't realize that [the Affordable Care Act] also gives the Govt. the right to withdraw money from your bank account too.

I read an Associated Press piece a couple of months ago saying the fines that one is supposed to pay for not buying insurance are to be paid to the U.S. Treasury and are to be collected by the IRS. However, the story went on to say that the Affordable Care Act specifically prohibits the IRS from using the methods and tactics they use for collecting from tax cheats.

Instead, according to the Associated Press reporter, the only mechanism the IRS can use to collect Affordable Care Act fines are to hold them back from any income tax refund payments the taxpayer is due.

If that is true, then for those who would like not to purchase health insurance, you need to adjust your income tax withholding or lower your quarterly income tax advance payments such that you will not be due a refund. That's not too hard to do, and it might save you a bunch of money in coming years.

Believe it or not

There have been cases where a person planning a murder actually bought all the tools/etc on a store loyalty card...naturally it was easy to trace back & finger the culprit....sometimes we don't even need the nsa....we shoot ourselves in the foot on a daily basis.

Remember the case of Caylee Anthony

The officials had traced that the home computer had been used to google info on chloroform & etc...the mother lied & said she had done that....

hah...we just think we have privacy..really we don't.

Not to mention the rent to own store had watched every blessed thing a person was doing inside their home (through rented computer)...geez...now my blood pressure is going up..

Tracking spending

Every debt, credit, loan purchase is traceable.
If you purchase Money Orders it is traceable.
Use the Internet its traceable.
A Cellphone is recorded and it is traceable.
Have a cell phone purchased in the last 5 years it is GPS traceable to the location of your call.
Make a phone call it is traceable.
Who you called is traceable and who they called is traceable at now relates to you.

The Phone #'s you have in your Cell Phone list is captured and recorded.

Your Emails are stored by law and traceable.
What type of foods you eat is traceable.
How much $$$ you make and spend is traceable.
What your illnesses are is traceable.
What you watch on TV is traceable.

Now they they are looking at making you register your books and requiring you provide ID to sell them.

Face it we have ZERO Privacy in the USA anymore.

The Government knows more about us, than we know about ourselves.

Big Brother is here.

BRACE yourself

Just like coldbeer said...here it comes...

Higher deductibles
Higher co-pays
Higher rates

How many can afford THOUSANDS in deductibles on health insurance....who in their right mind even dreamed this would work for the many med & low income families....this will be a killer for many....I can see some never going to a dang doc now....it will have the OPPOSITE result from what was intended.....the only people getting health care will be the non workers & non taxpaying public...yeh, the same ones staying at home & reproducing their own kind...

A redistribution all right.....only the filthy rich can over come this.....workers be DAMNED!

"it will have the OPPOSITE result...

....from what was intended"

I think you mean "from what was promised." It will have precisely the effect Obama intended.

"A redistribution all right.....only the filthy rich can over come this.....workers be DAMNED!"

Three groups survive it well. The "filthy rich" because they can afford it, or move. The "poor" because they get it "free." And the government workers because they make the rules and can exempt themselves from any rules they don't like.

It's intended to destroy the middle class. And it will, IF it goes on.

How about the NY times report

How about the NY times report that Benghazi wasn't a coordinated attack and the video precipitated it-after Hilary has already designated an investigation (accountability review board) where they (and Clinton agreed) the video had nothing to do with it. Gosh the President is a blatant liar and now the NY Times is just making up lies that don't agree with govt investigations which aren't complete as yet. You can see this is blatantly aid for Dems future elections. Like the NY times would really be privy to these facts. Just like the AC and Fox are accused of making up stuff we see blatantly so here with the NY times. Well its not like the Times hasn't already lost all credibility.

We got use to higher gas

We got use to higher gas prices, all energy usage goes up in cost, health care cost will be higher for most from a recent study, taxes will be higher for anyone who works, get use to budgeting. Ironic isn't it-the people who work and try will have to budget to subsidize those who don't bother or could care less. Obviously an unsustainable system.

Yes I do...his name is Bennie. He says, "Don't mess with his cheese, plaese"

Like it or not but we are all to blame for the congress we have & somewhat for the president we have....as much as I love this great country, I still can see our failings....we have MANY who never vote----never register & would rather drink beer & watch a football game or go hunting....I'm not knocking the south but I realize we have a disconnect from what matters to some working everyday Joes....

They just don't want to be bothered & don't mess with them attitude....IT IS NOT going away....we are stuck with this madness.

We have a huge population that is lacking in EDUCATION....white & black......sad & sickening that the situation is growing.

As Regards Obamacare....

Remember who has been right all along...

Republicans...because not a single Republican in either the House or the Senate voted for the original Obamacare Legislation. It passed with only Democrat votes and was signed by a Democrat President.

And don't forget Ted Cruz, Mike Lee and a few other brave Republicans who did their damnedest to stop Obamacare from being implemented by either delaying it, or defunding it completely. They were the real heroes here and they were roundly attacked for being correct.

What democrats have done is Unconstitutional and lawless. People should be in jail and the President should be impeached.

Instead....we twiddle and watch it all unfold.

Some of us had this spotted all along and have been sounding the alarm to anybody who would listen and even those who wouldn't.

Democrats are to blame. And most of all, democrats who voted for Obama and the other proponents of this Unconstitutional destruction of the best health care system the world has ever seen and lawless attempt to destroy both our Constitution and our Economic system.

Anybody....

...who EVER believed we could add 30 million new people to Medicaid and employ hundreds of thousands of new (very high paid) government employees to manage a government run health care system which allowed everybody to keep their doctors, keep their insurance plans, and pay an average of $2500 less than they used to pay for health care was either a fool, or involved in the plot to destroy our government and our economy.

I was neither. Ditto for most Republicans.

"No, we're not."

You are correct there Harley_52. When folks start making their HIGH payments....and having to fork over their HIGH copays before they can see the doctor.......and start getting the bills for their HIGH deductibles......well......they need to start thinking of this not just as Obamacare......they need to think of it as DEMOCRATCARE.

No Republicans voted for it and they tried their best to warn us of what would happen......and it has. They were 100% right. And we've still got almost as many uninsured as we did before we destroyed the best health care system in the world......and doubled the cost.

harley I will have to disagree

WE all are part of this problem....we saw the wreck coming....we watched it happen....we fiddled & fumed....we knew from the beginning that Obama was voted in on a" feel good to it attitude"...we were quiet...we didn't stand up to the pressure of maybe someone calling us a racist....afraid of the pc crowd....I can see THAT reversing as of late...
We fought back on P Deen---we fought back on Chick Fa La---we fought back on the Duck episode....we FINALLY have had enough crap...sometimes the ole throat can only take so much & then BINGO....all hell breaks loose...

I hope next year we will see the busting damn overflowing with the smell....enough to get some off their butts & into the voting booths.

gotta go..I just think I'm well....evidently I'm not 100% yet cause I have this urge to shoot some folks...that is not a good sign...byebye

Well you now can blame all

Well you now can blame all your problems on Democrats because it is obvious they control everything. We've been listening to blaming Rep for too long-that ship left the docks years ago. All our problems can be legitimately blamed on a Dem President, Dem Senate, and a neutered House dominated by the Senate. So whatever your problem is next election-remember whose to blame when you vote-Democrats.

An the Obamacare changes keep rolling in

AETNA has informed me they have added Birth control and hearing aid testing bahbahbahbha to my plan.

Under new reg's (guess whose) Some of the Med's I must have to walk will be dropped from the approved list and I should work with my Doctor (if he is still practicing) to find alternative "Approved" medications.

Today I got my Mail and another update "Improvement"
AETNA ADDED A $1200 ANNUAL DEDUCTABLE to be within a federally approved guidelines.

What part don't these Federal reg writing Jackals understand
about FIXED and declining Income due to inflation?

SO far5 they have:
Dropped a few Med's either mine or the wife's plan,
Increased our premiums $6000+ more this year,
Added birth control which will never be used at our stage in life.
Increased our deductibles.
Added a hearing test but no funding for a hearing aid.

If they keep this up I'll need to see a proctologist from all their help.

I dropped Aetna and went with Blue Cross this year. Still higher, but not the increase Aetna was proposing, which was about double from last year. Of course, if Corgi is listening, I want to be clear, I am not complaining. Just conversing.

seenit, I don't care if a grocery store knows that I drink Diet Coke, and i'm way too old for birth control. In fact, I wish that they'd give me coupons for Diet Coke, I'd like that.

Companies have been tracking this information for years, this is nothing new. When you buy a car from a dealership, buy anything on a credit card, buy a house- it's all tracked.

Use a debit card- that's tracked, too. It's not just limited to store cards.

The drugstores track you with or without a store card, with your prescriptions.

People are so concerned about privacy- there isn't any, thanks to the Net. Unless you pay cash for everything, your information is tracked.

Why do you think you get sent those doggone worthless catalogs and credit card offers?

Back in the old days, health

Back in the old days, health insurance was to be used for major expenses- like hospitalizations, and people paid for their own doctor visits themselves.

This is what it's going to go back to, and I think it's a good thing. It'll stop people from running to the ER every time they have a sore throat or when their kid gets a skinned knee.

All of you are old timers, like me. The only time parents used to take their kid to an ER was if they had a broken bone or needed stitches or were deathly ill.

True story- a woman I know has a toddler who is learning to walk. He tripped and fell and smacked his head on a tile floor, and cut that little piece of tissue that attaches the upper lip to the gum. He bled some, and got a big goose egg on his forehead, like every kid in the universe does.

So she took him to the ER. He wasn't even crying any more by the time they got there. You know what they told her?

"He's fine, the bleeding will stop in a little while, give him a Popsicle."

It's stupid stuff like that, that has driven up the cost of health care.

Back in our day, our mothers- and us too, when our children were small- kissed the booboo, said "You're fine" and sent us back to play. Now, it's "Oh my God, I need to take him to the ER!"

There is now a dearth of common sense in this country and what constitutes an emergency and what warrants a doctor visit.
