Two people were hospitalized Monday after their SUV struck the side of a house.

About 10:04 a.m., William Lambert, 58, and his wife, Bernice, were traveling west on Meadowbrook Drive when a medical issue caused Lambert to become unconscious, according to a statement from the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.

Police say Lambert’s 2004 Lincoln Aviator hit two mailboxes in the 2500 block of Meadowbrook Drive before striking the side of an unoccupied house.

The front of the vehicle was protruding inside the house, according to the statement.

Lambert and his wife were taken to Georgia Regents Medical Center, where Lambert is listed in critical condition.
