Empty Stocking Fund: Sick mother asks for help to buy present for son

WHO’S IN NEED

An Augusta mother has battled numerous illnesses, including cervical cancer and sciatica, and has not been released by her doctor to return to work. Still, she would like to give her son something for Christmas.

“I don’t know where else to seek it,” she writes. “My son is a good kid and he’s been through a lot with me sick the majority of the year. If I could get some help in seeing a smile on his face Christmas morning, I would be grateful, even though he says he doesn’t want anything.”

The Augusta Chronicle Empty Stocking Fund has helped people such as this for 83 years. Last year, the charity raised more than $93,000 that helped children and families across the region.

Donations are tax-deductible.
