Rants & Raves

Comments from readers:

I HOPE THAT THE president has been watching the massive display of protests against America in Tehran. Apparently, it’s been the largest anti U.S. rally in years. Maybe the president should call his friend President Hassan Rouhani to see whether he still wants to be friends with us? This display surely puts a damper on future negotiations regarding their nuclear program. Let’s be super cautious in our dealings with them.

I WOULD LIKE TO thank Bobby Arthur of the Aiken County SPCA and Alton Johnson of the Aiken County Planning and Development. My neighbor had called the ambulance and was taken to the emergency room. I didn’t know what hospital she was taken to. She had left her dogs behind, and I was unable to feed them. I panicked, and Mr. Arthur and Mr. Johnson jumped right into action. What a wonderful job they did, and I can’t thank them enough.

RANT TO THE DOCTORS who are doing abortions after 20 weeks. Mothers, don’t you feel your baby moving at 20 weeks. That’s five months. Are you kidding me?

THE APOLOGY WAS phony. Obama must think the American people are stupid. Well we’re not. President Obama is being labeled a liar and is the laughingstock of the nation. President Carter is the only one who is happy about it because he will no longer be labeled the worst president.

RANT FOR AUGUSTA Commissioner Joe Jackson. Why in the world would he not want Augusta to be safe from cigarette smoke? It is our right to be healthy and smoke free. Why would you do that to Augusta?

WHAT DOES THE turkey giveaway have to do with voting? Think about it.

I AM A SURVIVOR of lung cancer. November is Lung Cancer Awareness Month. If we gave more publicity to this like we do with breast cancer, people would take it more seriously.

ONE HUNDRED YEARS ago, locals ran their own schools with such remarkable results that the U.S. became the most successful nation in history. Now look at what letting politicians run schools has done.

I AM AGAINST the idea of the proposed “smokers license law” that would require a license to purchase tobacco products and then charge an annual fee based on purchases for removing butts from public property and cleaning stains from other properties. I already pay taxes for having someone clean up after me.

Rant for the person who posted (RANT FOR AUGUSTA)

I am a smoker, along with most of my family. We can only smoke in 0.1% of Augusta business, most of which we don't even go to! We don't blow our smoke in your face, and when smoking outside the smoke doesn't billow-cloud over your head! So why can't you suck it up, and quit being a hypocrite to all of us not bothering you!

Knock Out Game

This thing thugs are doing where they run up behind people and hit a male or female victim hard trying to knock the person out is sickening. If I were hit that way and wasn’t out, I’d try my best to put a bullet in the puncher’s C-7 vertebra to cut all sensation below his neck as he ran away so he could think about his mistake as he struggled to breathe through his tracheotomy every day for the rest of his life.

Chronicle Sports Reporter David Lee

Chronicle reporter David Lee knows more about his sport, baseball, than any writer I've seen in ANY paper. He will go far. The last time I saw such talent here was Joe Posnanski.

"It is our right to be healthy and smoke free"

For sure.

An excellent reason why you should consider staying away from smoke and try to exercise whenever you have time.

Neither of those endeavors are MY responsibility. They're YOURS.

An the Breatheasy Guerrilla warfare starts

like it has in other protested areas.

PLAYBOOK ON VOTE FAILURE CALLS FOR:

Continued ATTACKING SMOKERS RIGHTS
by assuring NON-SMOKER RIGHTS are more legitimate.

Attack Commissioner(s) that opposed their Fascist demands.

Post Anonymous RANTS & Stage emotional appeals and accounts.
just to name a few.

GIVENS
Is Smoking related to Lung Cancer in Some People? YES
Does every heavy smoker get Lung Cancer? NO
Less that 23% do which mean 3 out of 4 have a genetic protection of some type?

Do Non-Smokers get lung cancer? YES almost 2%

Do we know some people are genetically prone to Cancer? YES

Do we know some people have bad genetics and need to live in a Bubble? YES

EXAMPLE:
The whole world does not stop eating peanut butter, because 10 persons in 1.25+/- million have an serious allergy to it. Otherwise 3140 US people would stop Nationwide peanut production. Peanuts are a cheap HIGH Protein Food source for the poor on SNAP.

No what those with allergies do is AVOID the Problem.
They DO NOT DEMAND OTHERS QUIT Eating of Doing something.
They simply avoid being where their problem is.

BREATH EASY should take a lesson from this example.
Let people do what they want.
If you don't like smoke, simple avoid the Smoke.
Bar Keeps knew the job had smoking around it.
If they want to avoid Smoke, 1 person should get a NEW JOB.
Not 1,500+ customers stop doing what they have chosen to do for 1 employee who can find another job.

Knockout Game being done by Black teens

Is not a Game.
One person has already died from a head injury suffered falling to the pavement.

And in New Jersey, CBS 2 reports, video footage shows Ralph Santiago, 46, randomly targeted for knockout by a group of teens. Santiago was later found dead with his neck broken and head lodged between iron fence posts, according to NJ.com.

SO THIS IS NO LONGER A GAME.
It has become deadly serious.
It is nothing more than a random act of Aggravated Assault to inflect sever bodily harm and fear of life. Which, under GA Law allows deadly force as protection.

I agree with Riverman up to the point of the target point.
If I see some one playing this game, I will attempt to stop and detain them.

But at my age I may have to take what I know I can hit. A neck shot would be pushing my luck. But I know I can hit walnuts at 50 feet by aiming at a Belt Buckle area.

TURKEY GIVEAWAY VS VOTING

One actually has nothing to do with the other. One does have to wonder how people can provide a picture ID for a giveaway but not to vote.

President Obama has been labeled

many things over the last few years by 1/2+ of America.

Now that 13+% of Left 1/2 of America is starting to lean in agreement with the 50% of the Right 1/2 of America, I am getting worried WHAT WILL HAPPEN NEXT.

Historically when Presidents lose 15% to 20% of their political party base, we have a sudden major National or International crisis, which conveniently happen just in time rebuild the Presidents image as a Strong Leader.

A situation requiring enough of America to circle it wagons around the USA thus the President.

So the question now is:
What will be the next "Made to Order Crisis" to deflect our attention from Obamacare?

Place Your Bets
Will it be Political corruption suddenly discovered about someone on the other side?

Will it be a terrorist plot busted or attack stopped that was to happen during Turkey Day?

Will it be IRAN has gone Nuclear?

Will it be the announcement that they broke up a Racist Plot with DC Coup plans?

Or will President Obama be the 1st President in a long while not to "Wag the Dog" recover from mistakes and just take his political lumps?

The coming weeks will tell.

I.D.s and Turkeys

The MSM has many people brainwashed. Majority of the American citizens understand the idea of having an I.D. to vote, cash a check, make a return at a local department store, etc.

The MSM has created many sheeple.

...or maybe it's just Augusta, GA...
...and the beat goes on.

About the Braves move to Cobb county

In the AJC...

It seems there has been an ongoing dispute about parking...for over a year the paper says...some were threatened with booting & towed away if parked before 5pm...the Braves disputed this arrangement....they were frustrated & angry......so, sometimes Atlanta cuts off its nose to spite the ole face....

Boy, the anti-smoking gestapo

Boy, the anti-smoking gestapo are sure baiting the R&Rs lately aren't they. Must be nice to have so much time on your hands that you've got nothing else to do but tell others how to live and what they can and cannot do. I feel sorry for them sitting at home in a dark room fuming behind their keyboards and acting like teenage internet bullies. They are just proving what kind of small close minded people they really are.

"Commissioner Wayne Guilfoyle

"Commissioner Wayne Guilfoyle grew hot behind the dais"

Yeh, I had to look up dais.....but I had already assumed it was something akin to having a case of the red butt at the rest of the commission. Hell, being a resident of Southeast Richmond County, I've had that for 15 years.

We in District 8 comprise more than 50% of the land mass of Richmond County and a significant amount of the property and land taxes but we only have 1 commissioner to try to defend ourselves. It just ain't right. We need to separate ourselves from this oppressive, neglectful, overbearing downtown municipal tax and spend government.

I had a conversation recently

I had a conversation recently with a musician (vocalist/rhythm guitar) who supported the smoking ban, him citing the usual about smoke irritating his throat, increased health risks from exposure, etc.

I asked him "what is to stop you from playing only at smoke free venues"? His answer was they are few and far between in nightclubs/bars; the places they get the most gigs from; and if they don't play them, the other bands will.

I left him with the thought that if it is a popular wish to play smoke free, the local bands should form an alliance and refuse to play in smoking venues.

I wonder if there's a process for a district to secede from the city/county government?

Do you think the majority of District 8 voters would support secession if there was such a process?

"I left him with the thought....

To me, that's the appropriate way to view the issue. People who like to smoke should frequent venues held in places where smoking is allowed and vice versa.

If Columbia County wants people to smoke at their fair, they should allow it and realize some number of non-smokers might choose not to attend. It's an economics issue for them (or at least it SHOULD BE).

Nobody should force anybody to smoke, or not smoke, just because of their own personal preferences.

As long as smoking is legal, people should be allowed to smoke wherever the owner of the property allows it.

IMHO, of course.

There is a process to DE-CONSOLIDATE

It has been done and that is why we have Sandy Springs that DUMPED ATLANTA. When Atlanta bring a Money pit sucking up Tax dollars.

I have outlined the process a few times here and it is not that complicated to place on the next county ballot.
10% of the District 8 voters (less than 2,000) need to request a vote be held regarding District 8 ONLY.

A few unofficial private polls indicate it would pass for District 8.

But if even if it is narrowly defeated, it would be STRONG SIGNAL to Downtown that a growing number of D8 voters are fed up with the $$$ Funnel only pointing down town and taxes constantly being increased or FEE's being added.

NocNoc, that sounds very possible

NocNoc, that sounds very possible. It would seem it will take Wayne Guilfoyle to get the ball rolling. But isn't there something about it requiring a majority of all registered voters actually voting for the breakaway? I wish Wayne would get on here like he sometime used to and discuss how this could be done. Pros and cons.

While we're talking, what about West Augusta? It seems like they would want to do something like this, too.
