An island on Mike Padgett Highway doesn't have reflectors on it.

WHAT: A concrete channelizing island does not have yellow paint or reflectors on it, which makes it hard to see, especially at night. Large chips in the concrete show how frequently drivers strike the island, many thinking the outside lane extends to the Bobby Jones Expressway ramps.

WHO’S RESPONSIBLE: Georgia Department of Transportation

ACTION PROMISED: Spokeswoman Cissy McNure said the issue has been put on DOT’s high priority list. District Traffic Engineer Kendrick Collins has said the department will evaluate the issue at the first available opportunity.

Well that will be the least

Well that will be the least of our problems if what I heard yesterday is correct. Seems around Dec. 8th, Hwy 56 will become 2 lanes for approximately 2 years. It is rumored those heading to IP, Vogel, and other industries will have to be rerouted. Bet Starbucks is wishing they'd built somewhere else. I can't imagine what a fiasco this is going to be.....should have retired early, sold my house and gotten the heck out of South Augusta. Doubt I could even have someone look at the house now.

0 will be will be able to make left hand turns but no turn lane. I can see it now, traffic and buses, logging trucks and chemical trucks backed up for miles while hundreds of industrial employees, contractors and salaried personnel try to turn into their work place "without a turning lane"!.

Reported this last year and again this year.

I guess it took the AC to get something done.

Augusta's documented Death Road

has needed the safety additions for over 15 years.

If I may make another Safety Suggestion?

The NEW Traffic Light at Hwy 56 and Hwy 56 Loop needs A Strobe
warning Stop light added.

This intersection light had been just a flashing light for 30+ years and now that we finally have a Traffic Light working it is catching some truckers and drivers by surprise.

Next time you ride by the intersection, look at the 100-200 ft. extended Semi-Truck skid marks coming down the hill headed south on Hwy 56.

The all to commonly installed extra warning Stop STROBE might save a person or a family for a Logging Truck.

Then again, the question is.
Since it took 30+ years to get the Stoplight
will the South Side get a strobe installed before 2043?
