Moving forward

Big things are happening in South Augusta. I can't wait for the new park, phinizy swamp, Fort Gordon, and the Lombard Mill pond trail to all connect..

"Big things are happening in South Augusta. I can't wait for (them).....to all connect."

Yeh, maybe we can follow all of them trails to West Augusta or Martinez and actually find a restaurant or some retail shopping on the other end.

Any of them trails lead to North Augusta? Everything is cheaper over there.

Tell you what countyman....WHEN I SEE "big things" happening out here I'll LET YOU KNOW and we can both be excited. I ain't seen any yet. Trails and a park or two are token pacifiers but nothing big. And I take note of all of the maybes and supposed to's that you tell us are coming. When I'm sitting somewhere eating one of those Five Guys burgers, enjoying the same level of police, fire, and ambulance protection the rest of the county gets, and watching the selling price of South August real estate climb back to at least THE LEVEL THAT IT IS BEING TAXED AT, then I will say "big things are happening in South Augusta".

South Augusta

What major retail shopping is located in Martinez compared to South Augusta?

The Starbucks and Rockwood plants are both under construction. The General Perry Smith Pkwy is probably complete now and connects to the future 200 acre Augusta Regional Industrial Park.

The developer Hullstorey is redeveloping the shopping center at 3108 Peach Orchard(smaller Augusta Exchange) and Dunkin Donuts/Firehouse Subs are under construction.

WOW what a place for a PARK?

So everyone can see PLEASE take a minute to access GOOGLE
MAPS, switch to Satellite view and zoom 2x to the Great (industrial setting) for the South sides newest Park.

A Park given to us as Payment for being good South Side taxpayers. Located across the street from YDC, the ARC JAIL, and next to a low income apartment complex.

https://maps.google.com/maps?oe=utf-8&client=firefox-beta&q=1817+Carmich...

It is that clump of Trees, just past all those Commercial Trucking firms at the end of the road. On the North Side of the Park is the MAIN SEWER TRUNK LINE that runs down along Butler creek to the Stink works. This is a major gift considering we know everyone "stuff" from as far away as US 1 , Barton Chapel, Meadow Brook, Rosire rd. Pepper Ridge, the jail, YDC and parts of HWY 56 will all be passing under our feet in parts of our new park.

It is a great location
To the South of the Park is a Barton Village Apartments.Without a sidewalk 1 to get to the park.

To the West is SWAMP and Butler Creek MHP with no direct access I am told either.
But to the North East there is HWY 56 a Waffle House. a McDonalds, T's and a confused Huddle House.

YEP The South Side has gotten us a sweet deal for all that tax money we sent DOWNTOWN the last 16 years.

Using GIS it was interesting to note that the owners of Carmichael Rd Extension and other properties immediate to the Park, did not Sell out, according to GIS, I guess they must have BIG plans.

ARC-GIS shows those lots have already been divided into odd shape lots, with long narrow looking driveways?

Interesting List of Surrounding Hold out Owners:
The address for one of the owners of several lots is strange at best. It is listed as 112_ 11th ST in Augusta GA **** Google the street view of the 1100 Block of 11th St????

or
like the property owner whose address is in
32_ MANHATTAN AVE NY, NY

DOWNTOWN,
Thank you for the park, it shows us on the south side what you do think of us. We'll try repay the gift equally to y'all in some way in the coming year.
