Rants & Raves

Comments from readers:

A BIG RAVE to my wife, who is a Richmond County teacher. She has been dedicated to teaching in one of the more difficult high schools for over 15 years. I watched her working for 18 hours on Sunday on lesson plans for three different classes, grading, phone calls, analysis, special reports ... She often gets up at 3 a.m. to do her school work, starts school at 6:30 a.m. for duty and leaves at 5 p.m.

I HEARD A NEWS report that a Florida family had food stamps reduced because of a stimulus fund expiring. The family received $793 a month for food. They were losing $38 per month, but why can’t you survive on less than that if you eat wisely? There are food banks everywhere, and the American people, especially conservatives, are very giving and supportive. Hard-working Americans are being taxed more than ever, and yet those who live on unearned entitlements are rewarded handsomely at the loss of those that are productive.

RANT ON TWO black ladies who cut in line of the white lady. Words were exchanged and the fight was on. My daughter had to move out of their way so she would not be hit. The two black ladies should have gone to the end of the line like everyone else had to do. This is why we did not go to the Augusta Fair downtown.

I DON’T HAVE a problem giving food stamps to the elderly who might really need help. All the rest can get jobs and stop having children they can’t afford. They have no excuse for their laziness and bad behavior. Don’t work, don’t eat.

I AM NOT SURE if Scott Dean will ever get another chance to have a new trial to prove his innocence. I thought that the new evidence was convincing enough to allow another trial to proceed, but apparently not. I hope that Silda Dean fully understands the awful damage she has done to her “father.”

IT IS REALLY a shame that schools can be so concerned about students’ clothes instead of being concerned about their grade-point average. How do you know that isn’t all they have?

A BIG RANT TO whoever is responsible for removing the newspaper recycling bin from Harlem.

HATS OFF TO Israel again. They sure know how to protect themselves. What I like about their approach is that when they see a threat they go after it, no endless debating, no publicity beforehand and no checking on world opinion.

Regarding the rant about

Regarding the rant about cutting the line. If she didn't go to the Augusta fair because of things like this happening , then where did this happen?

I'm not a baseball fan but it makes sense to move closer to the actual ticket buyers. But now I will have to keep up with the braves schedule since the traffic will be on 285 and I can't go through town.

Food stamp rant... do you

Food stamp rant... do you really expect people getting freebies to actually take responsibility for their actions? You are really funny.

The new stadium will be nice for sure. I do hate it that the kids will no longer be able to run the bases of the Old Fulton County Stadium and see where Hank's 715th homer hit. Climb on the fence and such. Wonder how or if the City will preserve it.

Good Morning "R&R's" America

@1 - Yes, the very mast majority of American teachers are unsung hero's for the job they perform "and" then there are a few who are just plain worthless.

@2 - If you can't fully feed a family of 4 on almost $800.00 a month, than you are wasting food and my tax money. The CIC and I along with 2 or 3 monthly family get together do it with a lot less money and have food to spare.

@3 - "This is why we did not go to the Augusta Fair downtown."
Well, I guess using that as a reason means you don't go any place else!

@4 - "Don’t work, don’t eat." Nothing else needs to be said!

@5 - Just remember that Rant when you cash your vote at the next DA election. That really is the reason why Dean's possible future is shot! "Politics"

@6 - Next time you see a child that looks under dress, look at the parents who are driving new cars, nice hair do's, cellular telephones, expensive jewelry and then tell me that there isn't something wrong with that picture!

@7 - They have learned from the actions of modern day America on how not to do things.

Don't Forget Hillary Pushed Hillarycare

Since the nation is ticked at Obamacare and hopefully will vote to do away with it by electing Republicans, let's not forget Hillary wanted something similar. When she runs for President, lay that reminder on her constantly. We could have a clear choice of those pushing government controlled health care against those who are opposed. Don't let her weasel out as she does with everything else.

The old stadium is the "Blue" parking lot. However, the Home plate and the base paths are laid out in such a way for you to visualize the field. And the outfield fence where Aaron hit his homer is still standing as it was in 74.

Even though I am no longer a baseball fan, you are correct in the history of the game being preserved. Especially Hammerin' Hanks history making homer. I just didn't know those parts of the field were still there.

I am pretty sure you are right about the parking lot. At least I know they were years ago selling seats from the olld stadium. My husband proposed to me when we were in college then, in the cheap seats in the outfield. No, we didn't buy 2 seats.

First time and only time I ever experienced racial based anger directed toward me personally was walking from where we parked in a neighborhood to the game.

It was when race riots were going on around the country. Atlanta had some. They were mild compared to elsewhere. We were walking on our way to the stadium and a young black woman, sitting on the porch of a house yelled at us,"Are you scared?" That was a first, and last.

Sometimes the web site or the computer runs a little slow and the commenter will click "Save Comment" again. It is not a big deal. I catch and remove most repeats eventually. You can click "edit" and change it to an asterisk or some other innocuous character or just leave it. Most people will understand.

It my understanding that what Hillary wanted was worse. That is why there were no votes for it. The rich people in Congress were not going to pay for their expensive care out of pocket. They could afford it. The rest oc us eventually could not.

They always love to use any statistics that make them look so much better off without including all of the stats..

Facts

I know they didn't give the 'median sale' price for Evans, but you can't bring up the 'average listing' in Evans and compare the price versus the 'median sale' for other areas.

Neither Martinez & Evans are quote 'real' cities, because their not incorporated... The both of them don't have any type of downtown area or exact boundaries either. The only cities in Columbia County are Grovetown and Harlem.

Let's just accept the fact the poster Thuach112 is wrong in terms of the wealth in the CSRA.

Comparing the zip codes makes absolutely no sense if you want a fair competition. The 30815 zip code for example stretches into South Augusta and the city limits of Hephzibah.
