Volunteers will be canvassing Richmond County neighborhoods Saturday collecting canned good donations for the 21st annual It’s Spooky To Be Hungry food drive.

The food drive is the largest of the year benefitting Golden Harvest Food Bank. In 2012, more than 135,000 pounds of food and $60,477 were collected.

More than 200 neighborhoods and 175 local schools, churches and businesses will participate.

Homes in participating neighborhoods should have received a flyer earlier this week. Residents can leave a bag of canned goods by their mailbox or front door, or wait for a volunteer to knock on the door.

If your neighborhood isn’t participating, items can be left at all Richmond County public libraries.
