Around 400 frozen turkeys were handed out to families for Thanksgiving during the annual James Brown Turkey Giveaway at Dyess Park in 2012.

The Brown Family Children Foundation will hand out Thanksgiving turkeys to hundreds of families in need. To receive a free turkey, people must preregister on one of four Saturdays. About 400 turkeys were given out last year.

To register, take a state-issued photo ID and a utility bill with proof of address to Dyess Park, 902 James Brown Blvd., between 9 and 11 a.m. Saturday. Registration will continue Nov. 2, 9 and 16.

The giveaway was started by the soul singer more than 20 years ago, and the Brown Family Children Foundation has continued it since 2007.

Let me get this straight

It's more difficult to get a free turkey than it is to vote?

Eric Holder better not find out about this or these organizers are in big trouble.........

You mean I have to have a state issued ID just to get a turkey? and a utility bill? They don't even require this when I pull out my EBT card at the grocery store.

Tradition

This is a good tradition in Augusta and a nice way to celebrate the accomplishments of James Brown. Bravo to the Brown Family Children Foundation.

I know what I will do. I will

I know what I will do. I will go to the public library, where I have spent all my time for the last week trying to get on the Obamacare website, and I will print out the page I have been stuck on, and I will show it to
Rev. Al and he will probably give me two turkeys.

In all seriousness, where is

In all seriousness, where is the outrage over the requirement for a state issued photo ID. If this were an election making these requirements necessary to vote, there would be 14000 comments on here against it.

The same people that complain

Unpublished

The same people that complain about not wanting to buy a Ga ID to vote, are the same people who have no problem buying a Ga ID to get a free turkey. I bet if the people working the voting booths put up a phrase like "vote here for free if you have a Ga ID" the complainers would come in truckloads. It's just a mind thing. They actually have to see that they are getting something for free.

I expect there will be a lot of white people and very few black

people down there for the turkeys if Jessie, Al, Erik, and the other race hustlers are accurate in their undertone mantra that the blacks are too stupid and lazy to get state ID pictures.

This just goes to show how stupid their show boating is when it comes to racial hustling by the black elite prostitutes.

Voting is FREE? Why not use the same papers? We know.

It is where you stays that conflicts with "legal residence". Cultural discrimination. Whitie will find a way to deprive the needy.

@ragingbull

That just goes to show that people tend to pick and choose when they want to say that something infringes on their "rights". Give away "free" stuff and whipping out an ID and proof of residency suddenly isn't a problem.
