An anonymous caller phoned the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office dispatch center about 2 p.m. and said “a bomb was going to blow up the school,” according to School Safety and Security Capt. Ted Brown.

Brown said students were evacuated to the stadium while bomb-sniffing dogs from the sheriff’s office searched the school.

When no device was found, students were released and buses took them home about 3:30 p.m.

Brown said the call could not be traced back to a working phone number.

“Thank God it was a false alarm,” he said.

They used to do this at my high school all the time...from the pay phone that was by the lunch room! Just another way for them to ditch classes for an hour or two. With the advent of cell phones in every kid's pocket now, I'm surprised there aren't more of these.
