A Barnwell, S.C., woman has been charged with embezzlement after a South Carolina Law Enforcement Division investigation.

According to a news release, Shannon Keller Doak, 38, embezzled $18,535.14 between May 23 and Sept. 12 from her job at the Ashleigh Place Group Home, 4435 Ashleigh Drive in Blackville.

Authorities said Doak, who was responsible for various administrative duties, took the money from the state-funded group home by cashing checks under a fictitious employee’s name.

On Tuesday, she was charged with embezzlement of public funds, $10,000 or more, and booked into the Barnwell County Detention Center. The felony charge could result in a prison sentence up to 10 years and a fine in proportion to the amount of money embezzled.

This, in

my humble opinion, should give her honorary membership in the naacp ( in good standing ) and a leadership role in the democratic party.
