TOTALLY AGREE with the complaint about a concert at the Evans amphitheater on a weeknight. I live three miles away from the place and can hear the thumpity-thump-thump, too. And yes, Columbia County does have a noise ordinance.

I BELIEVE IN change but please stop changing the format of some sections of the online paper frequently, especially the obituaries.

BOTH DEMOCRATS, Obama, and the Republicans are screaming about the government shutdown keeping mothers from getting baby formula to feed their kids with. God gave mothers a built-in milk system for feeding babies. It’s not up to taxpayers to carry that burden.

I GRADUATED from Richmond Academy in 1978. I have been away for years but recently came back for an extended family visit. Since when did Augusta become such a hate filled city? Stop watching FOX News and get out and get involved. Maybe you will lose some of the hate the GOP has put in your heart.

YES, WE CAN fix this country. We can vote all incumbents out of office, from local commissioners, to senators and congressman. If they won’t vote in term limits, we will. Send them packing.

RANT TO THE president who will negotiate with Satan, himself, but not any American who doesn’t agree with him. This so-called “leadership” has been anything but. Our country is more divided now than it ever was, all due to a narcissistic, arrogant political party.

IF YOU WANT TO end the madness that is going on in Washington right now, send Congress home and take away their pay. They will fix the problem immediately!

CONCERNING FEDERAL employees who have been designated “non-essential” and therefore being sent home: Has anyone else wondered why our federal government normally funds “non-essential” positions in the first place? If a private business made a habit of employing unnecessary workers, they would soon be bankrupt.

A NEW LIE posted on the White House contact page, “Due to Congress’s failure to pass legislation to fund the government, the information on this web site may not be up to date.” The problem isn’t Congress. It is time for Obama to negotiate with the Republicans instead of with Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, or any other anti-American group.

Democratic Party Run Cities

To that guy who graduated from Richmond Academy in 1978 and thinks Augusta is a hate filled city due to the Republican Party and Fox News. Well, what Democrat run city do you live in? Democratic Party run cities look like something from MadMax Beyond Thuderdome.

"Cheers" you say?

I guess I understand pointing out the obvious, only to be ignored by the lemmings.

But, hey, lemmings are lemmings.

I for one appreciate!

Private construction overtaking Augusta

I don't really get involved with the political spectrum, because the republicans and democrats are both failing the american people. The facts do suggest a lot of the cities experiencing above moderate growth in the US are usually democrat/liberal. Whether it's Seattle, Raleigh, Charlotte, Atlanta, DC, Houston, Dallas, Portland, Minneapolis, etc...

The new $1 million GRU pedestrian park in the Medical District begins construction shortly.

The site of the Cabela's(only the third location in the southeast behind Louisville & underway Greenville: Acworth suburban Atlanta is the fourth location) store in North Richmond is moving along pretty quickly.

The first Michael Kors in the state of Georgia outside of metro Atlanta, and the first boutique store in South Carolina(metro Augusta) is moving along in the Augusta mall. Only two malls in the state of Georgia exist that are much nicer than the Augusta mall(Phipps & Lenox in Atlanta). The Augusta mall is right alongside of the Perimeter, Northpoint, Mall of GA, Cumberland etc in metro Atlanta.

Quoting"Since when did

Quoting
"Since when did Augusta become such a hate filled city? Stop watching FOX News....."..."lose some of the hate the GOP has put in your heart.."

While I agree with "...get out and get involved..." part.

I take major exception with the your narrowly focused and politically slanted idea that:

1. Watching alternative (non Liberal/Socialist/Democrat) NEWS resources is the cause of America's problems.

2. That the GOP is the primary hate spewing party in all cases.

It is because of these Alternative News resources that we are
learning ALL sides of a problem and many covered up problems.

Think of the many things we would not have learned over the last 25 years had it not been for the Non-State media sources?

Your statement is as much says; "Go out blindly 1/2 cocked, with spoon fed limited information, to do the bidding of the State and
fix things the way state wishes it be done."

I think we have seen enough of that all ready, at the local, at the state and for sure at the National level.

My Suggestion:
Go out informed as possible, and help as YOU can and see fit.

If you go out with a narrow defined political agenda, you are sure to fail 50%+ of the time.

Democrats and Cities

Countyman said, “The facts do suggest a lot of the cities experiencing above moderate growth in the US are usually democrat/liberal. Whether it's Seattle, Raleigh, Charlotte, Atlanta, DC, Houston, Dallas, Portland, Minneapolis, etc...”

Well, let’s look at the top ten cities with populations over 250,000 with the highest poverty rates. They would be in order: Detroit, Buffalo, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Miami, St. Louis, El Paso, Milwaukee, Philadelphia, Newark. Guess what they have in common besides being so poor? They are all controlled by Democrats.

60 percent of families who made under $50,000 voted Democratic compared to 45 percent who made over $50,000. According to CBS News exit polls from the 2012 election: 93 percent of blacks voted for Obama and 71 percent of Hispanics. While only 39 percent of whites voted for Obama.

The best thing the city of Augusta government has going for it is non-partisan elections. Most of us know who the conservatives and liberals are, but low information voters don’t….thank goodness.

Good Morning *You All* America From Okinawa

Oct 14, 0902 pm.

Tried post yesterday, but typing on a Japanese Keyboard is totally impossible. So today I visited the Kadena Air Force Base PX which it the 2nd largest PX/Commissary in our military system and bought an English Keyboard. It is 2 stories covering 4 acres. It would make the Augusta mall look like Targets.

I will share just one story with you all.

In a largely populated city of Yamatan where we are staying with the CICs sister, every morning an old farmer come down a few blocks from us with a large bundle of fruits and vegetables, put down a folded table and places all his vegetable and fruits on it, which are in bags with a price written on each. 100 yen to 150 yen. A glass vase is in the middle of the table. This is about 7 am everyday.
He then leaves and returns around 5 pm. All the bags are gone and the exact amount of the products sold are in the vase. He has been doing this for years. Average amount that he gets every day is between 2000 and 3000 yen. Spent some time with him yesterday and he said he has never been cheated or robbed.

I said to myself, I wonder how long he would last in downtown Augusta.

When I left 39 years ago, with a population of around 700,000, which is now 1,300,000 is far from what I remember it. The Japanese has turned this whole place into a tourist trap, Called Little Hawaii.

Read the Rant and Raves today and you know what?

It is all yours ---- Have fun!

CG, Enjoy Your Trip

CG, they let retirees use the PX there? In some countries military retirees can't use the facilities. But that's an interesting example of their culture and how the people don't steal.

One thing I'll say for Muslim countries that I observed is there was no theft. I left a book I was reading once and an unknown Muslim person ran behind me to give it back to me. Of course they have harsh criminal penalties also because criminal conduct goes so much against their culture.

Why No Statements?

SeenIt, yep, it will be interesting to find out what's going on out there. One thing that ticks me off, is the Columbia County public officials surely know what's happening, but no statements are coming. This creates mistrust as it leads many to believe officials are jockeying to make some money for themselves. Where is Steve Crawford? That gets me into another subject, where is the CCNT? Are they going to fold that paper or what? Does anyone at the Chronicle care to give us a hint?

Maybe there is hope

WASHINGTON -- Democratic leaders in the Senate may have rejected a bipartisan push among more junior members to come up with a compromise to Capitol Hill's fiscal standoff, but at least a dozen senators working behind the scenes Sunday were still rallying around a plan led by Sens. Susan Collins (R-Maine) and Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.).

It's unclear how the effort has changed since Senate Democratic leaders shot it down Saturday in favor of direct talks between Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) and Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.). But the basic idea was to fund the government through March at the levels specified for 2013 in the 2011 budget deal, and to raise the debt ceiling enough to last through January, to give time to negotiate a longer-term budget. The plan would leave Obamacare alone, but replace for two years a device tax that helps fund the law.

Even though Reid and his fellow leaders rejected the idea -- objecting both to the short-term debt limit hike and to keeping deeper across-the-board spending cuts in place through March -- it got a new burst of support on Sunday.

Sens. Mary Landrieu (D-La.) and Bob Corker (R-Tenn.), both praised the bipartisan push in Senate floor speeches.

gotta go....see yall later

Yeah I was just finising the quote...but upon research....

The answer isn't really known but current consensus is that it came from the author Rita Mae Brown in her book Sudden Death on Pg. 68 from 1983.

Quote: "Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again but expecting different results."

Most people will attribute this quote to Albert Einstein but there is no evidence to suggest that he made this statement.

This quote "Insanity is repeating the same mistakes and expecting different results" appears in the Basic Text of Narcotics Anonymous which was copyrighted in 1982 and later published in 1983. It is found on page 11 of the final "Review Form" which was distributed to the fellowship in November of 1981. It is found on page 23 of the current sixth edition.
